Since the reform and opening policy,China's chicken industry has achieved huge development and progress.Chicken in recent years has become the second consumed meat product,only next to pork meat.However,the survey data showed that the chicken industry momentum stopped at the end of 2000.After 2000,the development trend was not clear.Especially in recent years,the export of chicken products has been limited or even has a downward trend.Aiming at this phenomenon and based on the previous research,this study tries to analyze the indicators to chicken products in the international market competitiveness of our country and its influencing factors were analyzed.Facing the problems existing in the development of domestic poultry industry,foreign poultry products with chicken products international trade as the research object,Contents also include the development of the Chinese poultry industry,and product characteristics of international trade.On the basis of the analysis,this thesis attempts to propose scientific and effective countermeasures,to promote further studies of the subject in the future to provide the corresponding reference to government and industry.This article defines the concepts of chicken product and international competitiveness on the basis of previous research,then summaries relative theories and research achievements of international competitiveness domestic and overseas so that make a solid foundation of following analysis and research.Next,discusses the trade status of chicken product at home and abroad and make a compare between them,conclude that even though China takes advantage of chicken production and sell in a long time,but not the powerful nation state in the area of trade of chicken products.At present,the situation of chicken products in China presents large quantity,large consumption and poor quantity in export.Also,China develops into net importer in chicken product market and in the backward level of per capita consumption.However,it exemplifies that chicken products in our country has potential in international market.Through a simple analysis of export structure,main export countries and area,it could conclude that the export market of China's mainland chicken products is single,the main export countries and areas of products are Japan and Hong Kong of China while live chicken and cold fresh products export to Hong Kong of China and Macau of China mainly,and processed goods of chicken export to Japan and Korea mainly.Since the year of 2002,China has lost the advantage in export and become a net importer from that time.Make the quantitative research of international competitiveness through measuring market share(MS index),trade competitiveness index(TC index)and revealed comparative advantage index(RCA index),then draw the conclusion that chicken products in China show a weak competition in international market.On the basis of the relative research,empirical analysis is made for discussing the possible factors that influencing the international competitiveness of chicken products in our country such as cost,export price,quality and exchange rate,find that the main factors are cost(the price and soybean and corn)and export price,exchange rate influence is limited.At last,direct at the previous research and conclusions,this article makes the relative policy suggestions for how to improve the international competitiveness of chicken products in China from the views of enterprise and government.
