Since the reform and opening up,many industries in our country have developed rapidly.As the pillar industry of animal husbandry,pig industry occupies a certain position both in the international and domestic markets.China is the world's largest pork producer and consumer,In 2014,the number of Chinese pig livestock on hand reached 466 million while the United States,in second place,only reached 62.1 million.China's pig products has a certain competitiveness in the international market,but compared with Denmark,Canada and other contries,there still needs a long way to go.With the continuous advancement of economic integration and trade liberalization,China's pig products will face more and more fierce international competition.Under this big macroeconomic circumstance,to research the international competitiveness of pig products in China and put forward some policy recommendations have a very important practical guiding significance.Firstly,this paper analyses the present situation of pig production and trade of China's pig products.China is the world's largest producer of pig products,the amount of pig livestock on hand accounts for about half of the world's total population,but China's pig exports accounted for the world's share of pig products are very low.The largest three exported pig products are live pigs,fresh frozen pork and produced or preserved pork cans,and the markets we exported to are highly concentrated.Secondly,the paper measures the international competitiveness of pig products in China by using various indexes.The international market share of pig products in China has declined in general,live pigs have a strong competitive advantage in the international market,but compared with Denmark and Canada,there still needs a long way to go,meanwhile the fresh frozen pork has lost export competitive advantage since 2011.Finally,based on Porter's competition theory,the paper analyses the factors influencing the international competitiveness of pig products in China.Because of the increasing of cost,the prices of pig products continue to rise,and we lost price advantage in the international pig products market,the international competitiveness of pig products is low.In addition,the quality of pig products in China has a lot of problems,so that China's pig market is influenced and unable to improve their competitiveness in the international market.From the angle of indirect influence factors of the pig industry's international competitiveness,our country has a wide variety of pigs,the local specialty pig breeding has been developing well,and the consumption of pork has been on the upward trend,which provides a good foundation for improving the international competitiveness of pig products in China.But our country engaged in the pig farming profession personnel lacks the professional instruction,the breeding is not standardized,the scope of coverage of technology promotion agencies is not enough,the guiding role has some limitations,financial institutions have a certain threshold for the financing channels provided by the pig farming industry,so that the pig farming industry lacks the corresponding support in obtaining funds,and the related supporting industry is not developing perfect.The existence of these problems has restricted the development of pig industry in China,and can not enhance the competitiveness in the international market,and this paper propose corresponding policy recommendations about solving these problems.
