Research On Competition Game Between High-speed Rail And Air Transportation

High-speed rail(HSR)in China has a rapid development in recent years,provides a new traffic choice with high quality by its technological superiority.It makes a huge change in the existing transport pattern and makes a great impact on the operation of air transport.The research on the competition game between HSR and air transport,analysis of pricing strategy and market is conducive to correctly handle the relationship and avoid vicious competition between modes of transport,improve transport efficiency and provide a reference for the future development and operation of HSR and air transport.This paper reviews the related research of HSR and air transport,analyzes the competition mechanism and passenger travel choice behavior.Secondly,establishes the Logit model based on passenger travel utility combined with the characteristics of passenger,demand and service,analysis of time,frequency,comfort and convenience etc.Thirdly,sets up the game model of HSR and air transport with the objective function of enterprise profit and social benefit based on the theory of transport economics and microeconomics considering the factors of the transport cost,consumer surplus,producer surplus and government surplus.Finally,takes the competition between HSR and airline in Beijing-Shanghai Transport Corridor as an example to verify the validity of the theory and model.The results show that the advantage is increasing with the distance increasing of air transport while HSR's is declined and both HSR and air transport benefit will promote with a HSR fare increasing and air transport price cuts when the maximum benefits to enterprises as the goal.Besides,HSR balanced fare decline,enterprise profits and social benefits improved while air balanced fare decline,social benefits improved but enterprise profits decline when the maximum social benefit as the goal,air transport could focus on business travelers,as far as possible to reduce the transportation costs of leisure travelers,reduce the operating loss of leisure travelers in the case of HSR low fares.
