With the rapid development of China's economy,engineering machinery industry of China also witnesses a fast-pace growth.Thanks to the continuous boom of this industry,a great opportunity for further development is presented.Just in a short period plenty of engineering machinery enterprises spring up like mushrooms but differ by scale,product lines,market share and revenue,leading to a frequent quality flaws and high failure rate during operation.China,though as engineering machinery operation and manufacturing power,fails to match counterparts abroad in terms of product quality.Quality improvement and efficiency lifting are the very key for future orientation of China's engineering machinery industry.Under the influence of micro-economy,lots of large-scale manufacturing enterprises start to realize gradually that full life cycle quality guarantee is indispensable to product quality management.That Attention paid only to manufacturing quality and “none of my business”mindset upon the finish of warranty period within conventional quality management is obsolete already.With the whole industry in the throes of going down,engineering machinery enterprises shall enhance product quality in all aspects and implement a policy of“full life cycle” product quality management instead of just ensuring the delivery of up-to-standard products to customers.For the sake of long-term stable development the full life cycle product quality shall be attached great importance to.Throughout twenty years of development in China,under current economic development condition,DS also underwent a period in which witnessing a sharp decrease of product quality with prominent quality issues,a continuous rise of scrap rate during operation,a big increase of customer complaints and sky-high after-sale service fees.In order to eradicate the root cause of quality issues and lift customers' satisfaction,it is the decision of DS to introduce Six Sigma manufacturing quality system to improve product quality in a all-round manner.This article took DS as an example,strictly followed Six Sigma improvement procedure that focuses on outstanding issues during operation and adopted systematic and scientific Six Sigma quality enhancement methods.The initiative was highly supported by company high-level personnel and based on stimulus scheme with an objective of achieving all-roundimprovement.This article mainly introduced the settlement of major quality issues of components by the adoption of Six Sigma DMAIC improvement methods,in which explained improvement methods,improvement data and verification means demanded for each stage according to definition,measurement,analysis,improvement and control.With the help of Minitap processing data need to be verified and analyzed,lots of statistical knowledge was put into use to provide basis for improvement.During the subject study lots of personnel familiar with Six Sigma manufacturing quality system were cultivated and the quality awareness of all staff was lifted,meanwhile we witnessed the resolving of quality issues existing in lots of products of DS,a decrease of claim resulting from operation and an increase of customer satisfaction.Against the backdrop of common claims resulting from components among the whole engineering machinery industry,this article,through the example of the adoption of Six Sigma improvement methods by DS,would provide some reference to quality improvement for China's engineering machinery industry.
