The Research Of Rapeseed Production Scale Profit In Yangtze River Basin

As a big vegetable oil production and consumption country,China’s demand for vegetable oil has showed a trend of escalation with the resident population growth and economic development.Rapeseed is one of the main oil crops in China,and ensuring the operation and stability of rapeseed industry is of great importance to the stable development of domestic oil market.However,in recent years,China’s rapeseed sown area and total production have decreased sharply because of the following reasons: the country has canceled the storage and acquisition policy,the competitive advantage is relatively low in rapeseed production,labor shortage and so on.The prospect of rapeseed production is not optimistic which will also lead to further decline of edible vegetable oil self-support ratio.Improving the efficiency of rapeseed cultivation is the key to solve above problem,and moderate scale management is one main method to improve production benefit,thus it is of great importance to determine a moderate rapeseed production scale.This paper studies the scale benefit of rapeseed production,and explores the scale problem from different perspectives.Yangtze river basin rapeseed production area,north spring rapeseed production area,Yellow river and Huaihe river rapeseed production area are three main rapeseed production areas in China.Yangtze river basin locates in subtropical area and has favorable agronomic conditions such as sunlight,temperature and humidity which are beneficial to crops production.This area mainly plants winter rapeseed and the total sown area accounts for two-thirds of China’s total rapeseed area.Yangtze river basin is the largest rapeseed production area in China and meanwhile the largest rapeseed zone in the world.Thus Yangtze river basin rapeseed production level can represent that in China to a large extent and the corresponding research data and result can represent the overall characteristics of China’s rapeseed production.On the basis of researches on thesis in both China and abroad,this paper firstly summarizes production factor theory,agricultural scale management theory,and the meaning of rapeseed management scale and meanwhile compares the relation and differences between scale economy and scale benefit.Then states agricultural moderatescale management.Next,on the basis of statistical analysis about rapeseed production situation at home and abroad,this paper uses research data to make empirical analysis about farmers’ rapeseed land productivity,labor productivity and cost-profit ratio in Yangtze river basin and employs translog production function to analyze scale profit,input-output,and cost situation of rapeseed production,and then gets the optimal rapeseed scale and analyzes the factors that would influence scale profit.In the end,several conclusions are reached:Firstly,increase rapeseed production scale has a negative impact on improving land productivity,but has a positive impact on increasing labor productivity and cost-profit ratio.Secondly,the principle of moderate management should be followed.Traditional and scattered rapeseed small scale management is no longer adapted to the current situation of rapeseed development.From the perspective of scale profit and input-output,farmers can get the highest profit in rapeseed production when the scale is between 10 and 15 hectares.Thirdly,because of the differences between geographical location,climate,and economic development level,there are discrepancies in rapeseed production among Yangtze river basin upper,middle and lower reaches.The scale profit of upper riches is higher than the other parts.Fourthly,from the aspect of production factors,rapeseed sown area and floating capital input such as chemical fertilizer,pesticide and seed cost have strong influence on scale profit and total production,and fixed capital input has significant negative influence on rapeseed scale profit,while the influence of labor is not significant.Fifthly,farmers’ ages don’t have significant influence on rapeseed production,and their educational level,agricultural technical training times per person,family income level and land transfer have significant positive influence on rapeseed scale profit,while family by-business will go against the improvement of rapeseed profit.
