Study On Spatiotemporal Changes And Regional Comparative Advantages Of Rapeseed Production In The Yangtze River Basin

Rapeseed is one of the main sources of edible vegetable oil,the oilseed rape industry plays a pivotal role in the world for a long time.In recent years,the development momentum of rapeseed industry is strong.Sowing area and production of rapeseed are both on the rise,and the overall development trend is good,but it still faces many development difficulties: from the perspective of domestic rapeseed industry development,it mainly faces regional development imbalance and imbalance of supply and demand structure;From the international perspective,the gap between domestic rapeseed supply and demand is expanding,and the rapeseed industry is too dependent on foreign countries,so there are certain risks in the security of edible oil supply.The Yangtze River basin is the largest rapeseed production belt in China.It is also the main producing area of winter rapeseed in China.In terms of regional climate,natural environment and farmers’ planting habits,the Yangtze River basin is also the dominant region for the development of rapeseed industry in China.Yangtze River basin there are some adjustments to rapeseed industry layout,clear rapeseed production advantages in different producing areas and provinces in the Yangtze River basin,and explore the spatio-temporal change rules of rapeseed production distribution,for the stability of rapeseed production capacity in the Yangtze River basin and ensure the security of oil supply is of great strategic significance.In this paper,the rapeseed in the Yangtze River Basin is the main object of study.By using the theory of comparative advantage and the theory of production layout,the paper tries to clarify the law of temporal and spatial changes of the rapeseed industry and put forward specific suggestions to promote the development of the rapeseed industry.First of all,the overall situation of the development of rape industry in China and the Yangtze River basin was summarized.The index method was used to depict the spatial-temporal variation characteristics of rapeseed production in the Yangtze River basin,and the visualization analysis was carried out by combining the regional center of gravity method and GIS analysis method to directly reflect the spatial variation trajectory of rapeseed production center of gravity in the Yangtze River basin.Secondly,based on the perspectives of natural endowment and competitiveness,the comprehensive comparative advantage index,resource endowment coefficient and location entropy were constructed to comprehensively evaluate the comparative advantage of rapeseed production in the Yangtze River Basin.Finally,the panel data model was used to empirically analyze the factors influencing the comparative advantage of rapeseed production in the Yangtze River Basin from 1990 to 2020,and corresponding countermeasures and suggestions were put forward according to the relevant research conclusions.The results showed that:(1)From 1990 to 2020,the proportion of rapeseed sown area in the Yangtze River basin to the national rapeseed sown area remained at about 80%,and had a trend of steady increase.The trend of total yield changes tends to be consistent with the sowing area.(2)The comprehensive comparative advantages of rapeseed production in the Yangtze River Basin were significantly differentiated in different regions.The middle reaches of the Yangtze River Basin had greater comparative advantages than the upper reaches and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Basin,and there were differences in the specialization and competitiveness of rapeseed production among different producing regions and provinces(municipalities).(3)In the study on the temporal and spatial distribution of production,it was found that the location of rapeseed production in the Yangtze River Basin changed from dispersion to agglomeration,and different producing areas showed different change characteristics,with the overall characteristics of "westward expansion" and "southward migration" in the regional center of gravity.The center of gravity of sown area and yield is located in the middle reaches of the production area,which shifts from Hubei Province in 1990 to Hunan Province in2020.(4)The comparative advantage of rapeseed in the Yangtze River Basin was the result of many factors.The disaster rate,labor input,comparative income,Transportation level and technological progress had significant positive effects on the comparative advantage of rapeseed in the Yangtze River Basin,while the fertilizer application amount for rapeseed,seed amount and effective irrigated area of rapeseed had negative effects.Among them,comparative income has the strongest effect on comparative advantage of rapeseed production.Based on the research results,the paper concluded that the rapeseed industry layout should be optimized according to the temporal and spatial changes of rapeseed production and regional comparative advantages in the Yangtze River Basin.According to local conditions,reasonable input of various production factors,strengthen infrastructure construction,improve rapeseed production conditions,strengthen the construction of rapeseed industry chain;Improve rapeseed production technology,help rapeseed industry optimization and upgrading;We will strengthen policy guidance and implement relevant subsidies.
