Since the Ministry of Health issued the first 14 clinical trial centers in 1983,the clinical trial has just begun its trip in China for over thirty years. It is a very young work field. And the Clinical Research Associate(CRA),as one of the most important roles in clinical trials,is also a very new profession as a result. It can be found by literature search that current researches on CRAs are mainly focused on its job content, job responsibilities, working disorders,job-hopping reasons, etc.Researches on CRA's job burnout management are not found in formal literature. Therefore, this paper will take this as its study point, aim to use questionnaires, data statistics and data analysis methods to explore the job burnout of CRA and how the influencing factors will affect CRA's job burnout, and finally provide suggestions on CRA's job burnout management based on the study results. This study selected all the China-based in-service CRAs(test sample)of one of the top rank global CRO companies and the terminated CRAs(control sample)who left the company during the year 3013 and 2015 for the questionnaire.Fifty-three questionnaires were distributed and 50 valid questionnaires were retrieved,of which 29 were from the test sample, and 21 were from the control sample.Based on the data collected and with the help of the SPSS software, this paper analyzed the test sample's job burnout, job satisfaction and personality traits, studied how the test sample's personality traits and job satisfaction are affecting its job burnout.compared the job burnout, job satisfaction and personality traits between the test sample and the control sample, also compared how job satisfaction and personality traits have different impacts on the job burnout of both samples. Then this paper drew its conclusion and provided suggestions to the selected CRO.The main conclusions of this study are:(1)The overall job burnout of the test sample is at the mild level;(2)Test sample's job burnout mainly lies at the exhaustion dimension;(3)Test sample's job satisfaction level is comparatively high, but is still significantly lower than the control sample;(4)The gap of their job satisfaction lies at the working condition and job prospects;(5)Neuroticism has significant positive impact on job burnout, while Extraversion has significant negative impact on job burnout;(6)Factors have significant impact on both samples'job butnout are Neuroticism(positive impact),the "result of my performance appraisal is good"(negative impact),and "performance appraisal makes me feel stressfull"(positive impact).
