Orientation Research Of MDM In Enterprise Organizational Structure

It's generally agreed that the master data management(MDM) is an important means of business management and data management. Master data management can be used to merge data, reduce the cost of data maintenance, speed up the business process and improve the efficiency of decision making. Through the implementation of master data management can the accuracy, consistency and integrity of the effective protection of enterprise data, provide the only "data facts" for the enterprise, and using it for enterprise data structure, data integration, data assets of the depth of the development of solid foundation.Nanjing Ericsson Panda Communication Co. Ltd (ENC) is one of the earliest enterprises established master data management department. The establishment of MDM department provides ENC with powerful data support and ENC company has now become the world's largest production and supply center of Ericsson and an important R&D center.When the MDM department had been set up for a full six years, the company made the decision to adjust the organizational structure and the MDM department will be transferred from the finance department to the operating department. Modern organization theory believes that, the organization is faced with the external environment change unpredictably and enterprises need to adjust the organizational structure and their development strategy according to external economic, political, cultural, geographical and environmental factors such as science and technology. This paper takes ENC company as a case,analyzed the causes of position in the enterprise organizational structure adjustment of the master data management department from the perspective of contingency theory, starting from the five important factors: environmental factors, strategic factors, technical factors, scale factors and life cycle factors. Combined with the interview method and literature analysis of the collected data analysis to find out the reasons for ENC company adjusted the organizational structure, and MDM departments play in different phases of the enterprise's role.The innovation of this study is that data were collected through in-depth case enterprise, combined with the contingency theory and organization theory to research the master data management position in the enterprise, it can be used for reference of domestic and foreign enterprise management is a conclusion that enterprises should adapt to the change of environment, maintain the pace of development and we need contingency to adjust the development strategy and organization structure. At the same time, this study also contributes to enrich the case study database in China.
