Undergraduates with disadvantaged economy in this study refer to the students whose family economic income are low or have economic difficulties in learning. This is not confined to the rural family, but also the low-income group from urban. With the development of popularization of higher education, the proportion of the family economic disadvantaged undergraduates is increasing year by year. The better growth of this group in colleges is an important presentation of the quality of our higher education and embodiment of social civilization. One of the most important dimensions of family economic disadvantaged undergraduates is the accumulation of social capital.Social capital refers to certain purpose of an individual or a social organization in social activities to achieve, interpersonal relationships he can use directly or indirectly and occupancy of capital for the trust of a person or group under the environment of a certain social norms. To explore the relationship between family economic factors and accumulation of undergraduates' social capital and the influence of the former on the latter are valuable research.Combing the existing research literature,it shows that research of the relation between the economy and the social capital of undergraduates focusing on the family economy and the specific aspects of undergraduates' social capital, such as interpersonal communication and interpersonal trust. As for overall statement about the relationship between undergraduates'family economy and social capital is rare, and mainly Michael j.White and Gail Kaufman's theoretical discussion on the status of the high economic level and high social capital, lack of empirical quantitative research.According to the theory of Bourdieu's capital conversion,he divided capital into economic capital, cultural capital and social capital.Cultural capital and social capital can be transformed into economic capital by a certain form, economic capital can also be transformed into cultural capital and social capital through certain means. At the same time, they can be mutual transformed among different capitals, which demonstrates the relationship between the undergraduates' family economy and social capital theoretically. In order to further explore the relationship between the family economic status and undergraduates' social capital, questionnaires were developed for measuring the undergraduates' family economic level and social capital status according to need.Family economic questionnaire is adapted to measure parents' occupation, family income and emergency economic ability according to the Luo Yun and Su Xin's measurement questionnaires.Student's social capital measurement is according to Putman's measurement questionnaire of social capital, and social capital measurement dimensions include social networks, social norms and social trust.Afterward, study selected a key normal university as case to collect data for many times. After item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analysis, study set up the final questionnaire. After descriptive analysis, divergence analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis, study shows that:there is significant difference in the undergraduates' social capital among different family economic levels' undergraduates;the affection of undergraduates' family economic level on social capital is significant too;economic disadvantaged undergraduates are insufficient in the multiple dimensions of social capital.Comprehending the above research conclusion, the financial compensation should be provided to family economic disadvantaged undergraduates and guide them to enhance awareness of social capital accumulation, multiple measures are also needed to enhance their ability in social activity. These can promote the accumulation of social capital indirectly or directly and realize the justice of social compensation.
