Food security is a primary problem for human survival. For a long time under the influence of Chinese traditional culture, the food security is equivalent to grain safety, but the food security should be a problem for the wider safety and supply of all the food that is needed for residents.Since the nation's reforming and opening-up has stimulated industrialization, urbanization, infrastructural development, land degradation and desertification, the agricultural land is becoming more and more scarcer.Food production requires agricultural land, but the land for food production is limited, the relationship between food consumption and land requirement are more and more attention. In this paper, according to the geographical location,China was divided into 7 regions: north China, northeast China, central China, east China, south China, northwest, southwest. The main source of food divided into two major categories of staple crops and animal food, and calculate their land requirement. Finally using LMDI decomposition methods, analysis of food consumption structure, population, science and technology progress of the influence of aggregate land requirement, make quantitative analysis.Based on the statistical data, this paper analyzed the changes in food consumption and land requirements for food in different regions of China.the results showed, the consumption of staple crops(grain)are decreased significantly, and the consumption of animal products are increased.Great changes have taken place in the food consumption structure in the different regions of China from 1980 to 2010.The increasing of animal products consumption makes feed grain need rising. The structural shortage of food is obvious, and the development of animal products, such as animal products, need to be developed. The land of staple crops production per capita decreased, the land of animal food production per capita is rising, during the past 30 years, the main reason is the demand for animal products increased,a corresponding increase in feed grain. In the seven regions, the total land requirement for food production in the influence of population, food consumption structure and the technology and other factors, the impact of the upward trend, but there are still fluctuations.Through the analysis of the impact of the food consumption structure, population, technology progress to the total amount of land requirement in different regions, found that the progress of science and technology makes the total demand of land is reduced, the consumption structure of food and population factors leading to increased demand for land,in 1980-2010,1980-1995,1995-2010 the three time periods, the residents the structure of food consumption is greater than the impact of population, and the factors affecting the population proportion is more and more small, food consumption structure factor increasing.According to the "dietary guidelines" Chinese people advocate the residents of food consumption and the 2015 national food consumption compared to that of cereal, vegetables, egg consumption consistent with a balanced diet standard, consumption of meat and poultry is higher than the balance dietary standard, energy consumption, milk, aquatic products is lower than the balance dietary standard.According to the food consumption by the pagoda and the population and technology level in 2015,the current 2 billion 25 million acres of arable land in China is fully able to meet the needs. But the increasing trend of animal food consumption will not change in a short time,so to alleviate the pressure of land resources so the suggestions mainly include the following aspects,(1)improving the efficiency of land use,and changing the planting structure;(2)Advocating the residents balanced diet, healthy diet;(3)Saving food, civilized dining.
