With global warming to human impacts more and more obvious, all the countries are actively looking for their own low-carbon economic development mode. Food consumption plays a very important role of the household consumption, regarded as a main way to reduce carbon emission has drawn more and more attentions in recent years. This article compares the similarities and differences of food consumption mode among China, Japan and United Kingdom.. Summarize the characteristics of residents’ food consumption mode through food consumption expenditure, food consumption structure and residents’ carbon emissions and so on. And research the carbon emissions pattern of residents’ food consumption from the view of international comparison. Learn lessons from developed countries food consumption pattern. Combined the knowledge of dietary nutrition and the low-carbon emission target, puts forward the optimization design for the present stage of our country residents’ food consumption model which is practical significantly to promote the adjustment of household food consumption pattern and construct low-carbon food consumption.Based on the theory of sustainable development, uses the comprehensive carbon equivalents coefficient method to measure carbon emission with relevant statistical data of the three countries. Comparatively analyzes the household food consumption model and carbon emissions among China, Japan and the United Kingdom. Then gives analysis of the intensity of the factors which have influence of the quantity of the carbon emission of household food consumption by IMDI pattern. These main conclusions have been drawn: 1. China now is in very need to upgrade the food consumption mode;2. The carbon emission of resident food consumption will increase according to the upgrade of food consumption pattern.3.To adjust the food consumption structure is an effective way to reduce food consumption carbon emissions. 4. Good lessons should be learnt from the Japan as it has the best food consumption pattern of the three countries. 5. Based on the conclusions, an optimization method is designed for china residents combined with dietary knowledge. The method gives suggestions to residents on how to choose the structure of food consumption.
