Since the 1980 s,the service industry has played an increasingly important role in the economic growth of Western developed countries. However,China’s economic growth has slowed down significantly. So,it has a more urgent need to change from the traditional manufacturing-based "industrial economy" to the service-oriented "service-oriented" economic.Producer services as a producer-oriented service industry, are closely linked to China’s economic development in the production process which is of great significance. In the face of the relatively backward development of China’s productive service industry,it is imperative to explore and study how to solve the problem of insufficient production efficiency of producer services.Based on the development of producer service industry in China has obvious agglomeration characteristics and rely on the city as the carrier, this paper to our mainland(except Lhasa)30 provincial capital cities’ productive service industry. The main research object is to use the panel data from 2004 to 2014 to study the influence of industrial agglomeration on the efficiency of productive service industry output.Firstly, the spatial Gini coefficient and the location entropy index are used to estimate the degree of agglomeration of the productive service industry and its sub-sectors in each city.Based on the DEA-Malmquist index method, the total factor productivity of the productive service industry and its partial sub-decomposition efficiency is measured, and finally the model is established to test the relationship between the two.The findings include:(1)Agglomeration of producer services of the provincial capital cities is obvious, and the average value of the location entropy index in the analysis period is above 1.0,and the trend is increasing.During the analysis period, the highest average value of location entropy index was Beijing,Shanghai and Guangzhou, which were 2.88,1.8 and 1.74 respectively. The Gini coefficient of the northeastern region is higher than that of the eastern, central and western regions.(2)The total factor productivity of the productive services sector in the provincial capital cities is also relatively high and shows an increasing trend, but the regional and sub-sectors vary greatly. The average growth rate of all-factor productivity in producer services is Nanning, with an average growth rate of 13.57% in 11 years. The fastest decline is the average annual decline rate of 18.6% in Fuzhou. The total factor productivity of transportation, warehousing and postal services is relatively the lowest annual average growth of 4.505%,the fastest growing financial,an average annual growth of 11.77%.(3)Industrial agglomeration has a positive impact on the overall factor productivity growth of producer services. In the decomposition of total factor productivity,it is found that the promotion of industrial agglomeration to the total factor productivity is mainly reflected in the improvement of technological progress, and the efficiency of technological efficiency: the effect of pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency is not obvious.
