Research On Guangdong Producer Service Agglomeration And Influence Factors

With the development of industrialization and urbanization, China has been optimizing the industrial structure, and the service sector proportion of the total economy is becoming higher and higher, especially the development of producer services. The development of producer services contributes to the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing and the optimization of regional industrial structure, also helps to narrow the gap between the region’s economic developments and promote the harmonious development of the region. From spatial aspect, the development of producer services has a significant agglomeration tendency. As one kind of geographical features and forms of industrial organization of industrial activity, producer services agglomeration plays a more and more significant role in promoting the development of producer services. The existing researches about producer services agglomeration are mostly studied from single perspective of industrial level or regional level, without a integrate analysis of the industrial and regional level. Therefore, researching on the cluster degree of producer services and its influencing factors may not only improve to sort out the theoretical system, but also provide theoretical support of finding out the development law of producer services agglomeration and promoting producer services agglomeration in regions.This paper will do a research on Guangdong producer services agglomeration and its factors based on the industry agglomeration theory and producer services theory, and the existing domestic and foreign research result. This paper, first, uses spatial Gini coefficient and location quotient to measure the current degree of six industries agglomeration of producer services in Guangdong. Then panel model is build to do the regression analysis about the influence factors on producer services agglomeration and to find out the most significant factors on each industry. Finally, this paper also put forward policy recommendations according to previous conclusions to promote the development of Guangdong producer service agglomeration.Through theoretical analysis and empirical research, this paper gets following conclusions:1. The degree of Guangdong producer services agglomeration is not high and there are large differences in various industries. The real estate and the renting and business service have high agglomeration degrees.2. Guangdong producer services spatial agglomeration develops a tendency to occur in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Renting and business service and scientific research services are clustered only in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Finance, information services and transportation industry are also clustered in other cities in the Pearl River Delta Area.3. Knowledge spillover has the most significant effect on the agglomeration of financial and scientific research services. Urbanization has a positive impact on the agglomeration of renting and business service and transportation industry. However, manufacturing demand do not show a contribution to producer services agglomeration as expected. Government economic behavior just has a positive impact on the agglomeration of real estate and negative impact on the other five industries.
