The formation and development of rural residential areas were in a spontaneous and extensive using condition in China for a long time.With Chinese growing modernization process and rapid development of economy & society,the city and countryside construction land demand unceasing expansion,the supply and demand contradictory is highlighting day after day,and unused rural construction sites,environmental damage are more and more serious.Therefore,how to recognize the characteristic rule of the spatial distribution of rural settlements is conducive to the scientific and reasonable distribution of rural settlements,the ways of new pattern urbanization and the building of a new socialist countryside.Taking Wanzhou district of Chongqing as the research area.By using ArcGIS,Fragstats,GeoDa,SPSS software and the KED analysis,spatial statistical,spatial metrics,multidimensional combination,and statistical analysis methods,this paper aims to analyze the patterns,the spatial distribution,and the scale structure of rural settlements,exploring settlement layout type and the optimization solution.In order to provide scientific basis for promoting the building of a new socialist countryside and rectification work.The main conclusions of the dissertation are as follows:(1)Comparing the spatial distribution,scale structure,and landscape patterns of rural settlement in Wanzhou District,from 2009 to 2014.1)From the analysis of KED,it appears dense in the west and sparse in the east in spatial distribution.We saw decreased density in most parts of the towns,especially Longsha town,Xiangshui town and Ganning town through comparisons and analyses.2)From exploratory spatial data analysis,the rural settlements in Wanzhou have positive spatial autocorrelation in scale,but are weak.It appears low-value cluster,that there are a number of small size cluster.According the comparative analysis,“hotspot” areas are on the rise,and “coldspot” areas are in reducing.3)By spatial metrics and the nearest neighbor index method,we discuss relations between rural settlement and topography,rivers,traffic,town.It appears that urban districts and transportations have more impacts for rural residential than the rivers,and the closer the distance to them,the more rural settlements distributed.It also shows that around these affecting factors,the rural settlements tend to bigger and closer.(2)By building the scale index,morphological index,and region index system,including KED,shape index,altitude of 9,to build multidimensional evaluation index system.Then to overall evaluations of spatial layout feature of rural residential.By calculating the combined matrix to divide the distribution of rural residential.Comprehensively reflecting the spatial layout feature information in different dimensions.Then the spatial distribution pattern of rural settlements in Wanzhou can be divided into eighteen types,“medium size-shaped-advantage position” and “large size-shapedadvantage position” as the main form(The number of which is 16339,14556 respectively;the area of which is 952.27hm2,599.64hm2 account for about 4.78 percent,3.01 percent respectively;“large size-ragged-disadvantage position” and “small size-raggeddisadvantage position” as the least form(The number of which is 354,431 respectively;the area of which is 248.35 ha,291.48 ha account for about 1.25 percent,1.46 percent respectively.(3)On the basis of the qualitative and quantitative research proposed,this paper divided rural residential into five reclamation types,which is Baoru type,Tuozhan type,Kongzhi type,Guibing type and Qianqi type.By histogram analysis and spatial analysis,this paper calculate reference threshold.Selecting 9 indicators in the ways of land conditions,socioeconomic status and location conditions to build the indexes system of applicability evaluation.The result of which is used to divide consolidation in preliminary analysis;based on KED and Getis-Ord Gi* to analysis where is the main cluster.Finally,according to the index by sieving progressive to classify realignment type.(4)According to regulation division,an optimized adjustment scheme is proposed.Baoru type should make the most of major towns and cities' radiation to urbanization;Tuozhan type is suited for the construction of centre village to stimulate the development of surrounding areas;Kongzhi type should maintain the status quo and emphasis on meaning potential to prevent rural residential sprawl;Guibing type and Qianqi type should do resettlement well based on local situation.
