China is the main trade partner of the Russian Federation. Both, the bilateral economic benefits and the political concerns lead to the long-term cooperation. One of the main commercial links between two countries was and remains the energy cluster. It can be explained by the rapid demand growth of natural crudes in China, and on the other hand the expansion and diversification of the Russian hydrocarbons target export markets. The pipeline projects as most efficient way of the transportation of crudes turned to be the most sufficient for both countries, due to the various factors, such as geographic position, trade volumes, nature and history of the cooperation. With the first oil pipeline,Russia opened the corridor to the Asian trade partners, and China partially covered the constantly growing domestic demand for energy resources. The successful long-term oil pipeline contract have proven the efficiency of the collaboration and allowed the future natural gas pipeline projects to become true.In 2014 one of the world's longest and most expensive cross border natural gas pipeline project was signed between China and Russia,in order to deliver the Eastern Siberia gas for 30 years. It is clear that such projects bring the big impacts on the global energy market situation and the relationships between two countries. However, the pipelines can be also considered as one of the main factors of the socioeconomic development of the Eastern Siberia and The Far East Federal Districts of Russia.During this research the study of initial situation and the future prospects of Sino-Russia collaboration were conducted. The macro-and micro-environmental factors of socioeconomic development of the Eastern Siberia and the Far East regions were determined using DEPEST and SWOT frameworks. After the consideration of the factors the set of recommendations and suggestions was made in order to help local governments with future socioeconomic development of the regions.
