A Study On The New Trend Of Anti-globalization And Its Influence On World Political Economy

Since last year,a series of dramatic economic and political events have happened in Europe and U.S.,showing that the political storm of anti-economic globalization almost attacked all traditional core countries.The U.S.withdrew from TPP,British fell out of the EU,TTIP negotiation was suspended,G20 confronted severe challenges of protectionism,Trump administration publicly challenged rules of WTO,trade protectionism continues to increase in a number of countries,more and more people in Europe and the U.S.tend to refuse immigrant,right-wing forces in some EU countries are rising,and national leaders who insist on integration resigned in succession against this backdrop.The international community has indeed encountered the worldwide anti-economic globalization that ever unexpected.In fact,anti-economic globalization has long existed.As early as November 1999,the Seattle Storm in the U.S.has made the anti-economic globalization receive the attention of the international community,kicking off the anti-economic globalization movements worldwide.Since then,a series of large-scale anti-economic globalization demonstrations have been launched,many conferences and forums against economic globalization have been held,and numerous global organizations against economic globalization have emerged.However,in the past anti-economic globalization movements,the participants are mostly NGOs in some developed countries and backbones in some developing countries.At that time,anti-economic globalization was almost the same as anti-capitalism.Their slogans were against transnational corporations,international economic organizations,American hegemony and capitalism.Therefore,anti-economic globalization has not stopped the globalization successfully.A series of international economic organizations and their mechanisms(including WTO,IMF,World Bank,and European Union)have generally been recognized by national society,and international trade as well as investment remains active.Hence,the vast majority of countries and people believe that economic globalization is an irresistible world trend.However,the worldwide anti-economic globalization since last year has many differences with traditional anti-economic globalization.Developed countries have become participants of anti-economic globalization,and the U.S.that has always advocated liberalism,also becomes an important member.Despite some traditional elements of anti-economic globalization objective,multilateral international economic organizations and neoliberalism remain the objectives of their attacks.But the priority development for domestic trade economy and the full employment of its people become main objectives of anti-economic globalization.Moreover,anti-economic globalization has diversified forms that is hard to imagine,The author thinks that the root causes of anti-economic globalization in the world today are multifaceted.In fact,today's anti-economic globalization is closely related to economic and political factors,mainly lies in,a sluggish economic growth since 2008,decline of America's economic status and influence,some countries being marginalized in the process of globalization,international economic order facing a new transformation,insufficient continued growth of developed countries led by the U.S.,prominent unbalanced development,the phenomena of refugees and terrorism.The impact of anti-economic globalization today on the international political economy cannot be underestimated.In this paper,the author holds that this trend objectively promotes the international community to re-understand the relationship between globalization and economic development as well as equity,and also puts forward higher requirements for domestic governance of governments,which is also conducive to the growth of socialist forces to some extent.However,its negative effects cannot be underestimated.From the perspective of international politics,current anti-economic globalization inevitably causes new conflicts and divisions due to complex components and different objectives;disordered expansion and violent confrontation may lead to new international social problems;the anti-globalists in some developed countries mistakenly blame developing countries,thus aggravating the contradiction between developed and developing countries.From the economic perspective,anti-economic globalization may delay the recovery of the world economy,increase economic friction between countries,increase the difficulty of global governance on world economy,and encourage the barbarous growth of different types of nationalism,thus further strengthening the imbalance in world economic development,and even creating an unfavorable environment for China's foreign economic developmentTherefore,international community must attach great importance to anti-economic globalization of the world today.
