Energy is the lifeblood of the national economy,in the contemporary energy occupies the most overall consumption around the world, energy is a motive force of the economic development,is also a key factor in determining the quality of life.Yet as to the development of economy has a great role in promoting energy, sometimes into a kind of restriction factors, due to the rapid development of economy, the amount of demand for energy will have more and more big, this will lead to the constant growth of demand for energy, but the process due to the scarcity of energy to produce great contradiction, therefore, only can correct understanding to the energy consumption and economic growth of this pair of contradictions,at the same time to correct and reasonable deal with this contradiction, countries for each stage of development will have a profound and positive impact. Before 1970,the asean region due to various factors and economic development is very slow,in the mid of 1970s to 80s,speeding up the pace of economic development,a group of member states has introduced the export-oriented industrial development strategy, and actively participate in international division of labor, the international competition, international exchange, sprang to make its economy,it also makes the association of south-east Asian nations(asean)in Japan, the "tigers"(Taiwan,Hong Kong,South Korea and Singapore)again after the "east Asian miracle".At the same time, the energy consumption of the asean countries in recent years, energy consumption has doubled in 1980,the average annual growth of 7.5%,at a time when the average growth rate of 1.7%of the world. In the next 15 years, the annual rate of growth of energy consumption is about 5%.The energy in the rapid development of economy of the association of south-east Asian nations(asean)plays the role of not allow to ignore. However, energy consumption and economic growth is the Granger causality of different between different policy implications,so we make a more scientific and reasonable energy industry policy need to further study the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth. This paper makes a more systematic study on the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in ASEAN economies. The study found that,in the Granger causality test, both in the long term and in the short term, the energy consumption and economic growth of the ASEAN economies had a one-way Granger relationship from energy consumption and economic growth.Based on this conclusion,by building the quantile regression model of panel data,we analyze the asymmetric effects of economic growth on energy consumption at different points of energy consumption. At the end of the paper,we put forward some reasonable policy suggestions for the empirical research results.
