Research On The Relationship Between Energy Consumption And Economic Growth In Anhui Province

With the development of China’s economy, the energy demand for economic development shows a tendency of increase year by year。Energy resource, as the core of social productivity and the source of force, is an important material basis of sustainable development.The development of energy industry, not only provides important raw industrial materials for people’s living and production activities, but also provides important driving force. A large amount of research demonstrate:from long-term perspective, the development of energy consumption prior to the development of overall economy in some extent, energy consumption is an important driving factor of economic growth.As for Anhui Province, its geographical space is "Crossing North&South", its economic space is "linking East&west". Along with the continuous development of industrial transfer demonstration area in Wanjiang City belt. The way of energy using is characterized low efficiency and high energy consumption, which had restricted Anhui economic development in some extent, this kind of energy using resulted in great pressure to the environment. Thus, to find out the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in Anhui province is helpful to better solve the problem of the energy development strategy, therefore, speed up the industrial structure adjustment, promote transferring the advantages of energy resource to economic advantage, which has a very important strategic significance for Anhui province actively integrate into "the middle rise of China".In this paper, considering the research of domestic and foreign scholars which focus on the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth, through the combination of theory and practice, describes the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth, taking Anhui Province as a case, through elaborating present situation of economic development and energy consumption in Anhui Province, by the method of econometrics and statistics, using co-integration test and Grange causality test processed data, then we find out the short-term dynamic causal relationship between energy consumption and economic growth and long-run equilibrium relationship in Anhui province. Finally, according to the results of empirical analysis, starting from the reality situation and problems existing in energy consumption and economic growth in Anhui Province, propose corresponding suggestions such as:optimize the industrial structure, promote green low carbon life style, improve the efficiency of energy use, adjusting energy consumption structure.
