As China's economy enters a new normal,the competition between the construction industries will become more intense.In order to cope with this situation better,more and more enterprises are implementing project management,and the success or failure of a project management is closely related to human factors.Project manager as the leader of the project team is the core of project management,is the most important and key projects of resources,the competency of project manager play a decisive role on the project performance,even directly affect the profits of construction enterprises,is also very important for the healthy development of the enterprise.But in the past for project manager competency research focused on the construction of project manager competency model,etc.,and the research for the relationship between project manager competency and the project performance is not enough.The project manager is the core of the project performance,and it is important to know the influence path between the two.Therefore,this research focuses on researching the influence path from project manager competency to project performance,trying to open the "black box"between the two and explore the intermediary variables between project manager competency and project performance,and the influence of intermediary variables is studied empirically.This article firstly introduces the current development of the competency and the project performance evaluation,and expounds the related concepts and theoretical basis,including the competency,social learning theory,group dynamics theory and stakeholder theory.Then according to social learning theory and group dynamics theory into the leadership role model and team climate of the two has important influence on project performance variable,which plays a mediating role between the project manager competency and project performance.At the same time,through the review and arrangement of the literature,the project manager competency measurement scale was developed,and the conceptual model of this study was constructed,and the corresponding research hypotheses were put forward.Then,through a small range of survey data,using exploratory factor analysis to purify project manager competency measurement scale developed for this article,modify the questionnaire and get the final questionnaire.On this basis,carry out an official of a wide range of questionnaire survey,to the staff working in the field of construction engineering investigation in Dalian,Shanghai,Guangzhou and Taiyuan,eventually won the 336 effective and completed questionnaires.Finally,in the empirical part,using SPSS and AMOS statistical analysis software,carry out the descriptive statistical analysis,the reliability and validity test,correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis to the collection of data,and hypotheses through the intermediary effect test based on the bootstrap research are verified.Hypothesis testing results show that the project manager competency has significant positive influence on project performance,and leadership role model and the team climate in which the two variables are played an intermediary role,put forward the hypothesis of this study was verified.The results of this article preliminarily clarify the function mechanism from project manager competency to project performance,and can also be used as the criterion for selection and training of project manager in practice.The innovation of this article lies in:(1)based on social learning theory and group dynamics theory,for the first time put forward a model based on leadership role model and team climate of interpretative framework,that leadership role model and the team atmosphere play a mediating role between project manager competency and the project performance,and validate the hypothesis of this article.(2)develop the project manager competency measuring scale.There is not yet a mature project manager competency scale,on the basis of the project manager competency indicators measure and the influence factors of the project manager competency research in the specific enterprise and combining with the situation,this paper constructs the competency measurement scale of the project manager,which is based on the research of the project manager competency measurement index,which summarizes,classifies,increases and decreases,merges and reconstructs.(3)through concluding project manager competency items,using exploratory factor analysis,build the project manager competency model,which including personal qualities,professional knowledge and skills,interpersonal communication skills and leadership skills in four dimensions.However,this article also has certain disadvantages:(1)although this article builds an appropriate project manager competency scale,the index system is not perfect,in future studies should further strengthen the research.(2)this study takes the method of questionnaire survey to collect data,although simple,easy and many for anonymous surveys,will not bring psychological effect to respondents,to a certain extent,can improve the reliability of data and real,but basically,it still has some limitations,answer to questionnaire item could be affected by the influence of subjective factors,respondents in the future studies should as far as possible through more objective data to obtain the data.
