The goal of all human effort is to achieve happiness. In essence, everyone desires to be happy and strive for it.In fact, the ultimate aim of economic growth and government governance is to enhance national happiness. In recent years, with the reform of China's economic system and social transformation, the level of national economy has continuously improved. In 1978,China's total GDP was only 364 billion500 million yuan, ranking tenth in the world, and GDP per capita was only 190 US dollars, belonging to the ranks of low-income countries all over the world.By 2010,China's total GDP reached 41303 billion yuan, surpassing Japan for the first time, becoming the world's second largest economy, with per capita GDP reaching US$4361,ranking 93 in the world.By 2016,GDP was the first to break 7 billion yuan, with GDP per capita reaching 8866 US dollars, ranking 69 in the world, and the achievements of economic growth attracted worldwide attention. But with the rapid growth of economy and the increase of income,China residents happiness levels did not rise significantly,on the contrary even worrying downward trend, this phenomenon is called the "Easterlin paradox".According to the "world happiness survey",in 2017,the Chinese people's happiness index was only 5.245 points(0-10scales),ranking seventy-ninth among the 155 countries surveyed. At the same time, the report also pointed out that today's Chinese people are not as happy as they were25 years ago.So what caused the "Easterlin paradox" of China's economic development? How can we improve the well-being of Chinese residents? Not only is the issue that policymakers need to consider today, but also what we are going to study. On the basis of reviewing a large number of literatures, this paper first defines the concept and measurement method of subjective well-being,and sums up the theoretical research on the influence of income and income gap on the subjective well-being of residents;Secondly, points out the shortcomings of traditional subjective well-being,subjective well-being evaluation index system and the design of the multi dimension data of the 2013 CGSS residents, based on the use of vector cosine combination evaluation method to calculate the level of subjective well-being.Finally,the income and income gap as the core, respectively, all residents, urban and rural residents and different income levels of subjective well-being regression analysis, and finally found:(1)absolute income has little promoting impact on subjective well-being,longitudinal relative income on subjective well-being has a strong role in promoting;(2)the macro level of the income gap has some harmful effects on subjective well-being;(3)considering the absolute income, the income and the income gap between the discovery phase on the influence of people's subjective well-being,although the increase in the income of residents subjective well-being have a significant role in promoting the upgrade, but because of the widening of income gap, when people found their income level is still not the same old person, the failure of subjective well-being and frustration will significantly damage people's feeling. And this kind of emotion on the subjective well-being of the negative effect was significantly greater than the positive effect brought by the increase in income, which partly explains Chinese economic development The "Easterlin" paradox;(4)work,education,marriage,Party membership, the number of real estate can improve the subjective well-being of citizens, while the unemployment rate, inflation rate, regional economic development level, number of children of different groups of subjective well-being are significant heterogeneity.
