In recent years, most companies are facing a double trick— the substantial loss of internal talent and the recruitment difficulties of external market. Therefore, companies are increasingly concerned about the topic of Job Satisfaction. Since Hoppock put forward the concept of work satisfaction in 1935,The related research emerged in an endless stream and has established it’s own system. Based on the theories such as the famous Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, equity theory, two-factor theory, they investigated the relationship between the factors and employee job satisfaction, such as the working environment, and relationship between colleagues on differentposition. However, income, one of the most critical factors to job satisfaction have been studied rarely, only appeared sporadically in certain areas or occupation field. Therefore, this paper focus on the factor of “income”, study the relationship between it and job satisfaction in the whole society, which has a certain theoretical and practical significance. At the beginning of the study, the relevant research on the relationship between income and subjective well-being is referenced.Currently, researchers at the study draw a more general conclusion that the impact of personal income would notableto a certain extent,,but the influence degree and mechanism is different. Then is the relationship between income and job satisfaction also like that? This paper will research the issue deeply based on double perspectives of absolute income and relative income. After the proposed absolute hypothesis between income, relative income and job satisfaction relationship, this paper use the "Chinese General Social Survey"(cgss 2008) data to establish an empirical model, to make empirical analysis, and in accordance with household income, highest level of education to group test and analysis.Based on empirical analysis and exploration with the "Chinese General Social Survey"(cgss 2008) data, this paper concluded that:there is no notable or stable correlationbetween absolute income and job satisfaction;the relative income has a significant and positive correlation with job satisfaction,no matter with which method to measure it.And some demographic variables also have a significant impact on job satisfaction; and this paper uses the demographic variables to have a stratified test on the results; finally, this paper draws on a comprehensive findings and carries out the outlook of future study.
