Land suitability evaluation,as an important part of land use planning,plays a pivotal role in alleviating the contradiction between land supply and demand and the contradiction between cultivated land and occupation.Land suitability evaluation plays an indispensable role in promoting the construction of land protection mechanism,optimizing the spatial distribution of land use and improving the scientific planning of land use.With the continuous development of new urbanization in our country,the residents' production and life style and urban and rural industrial development mode have undergone great changes,and the available land of urban land has been reduced,and the planning of regional land use has been paid more and more attention.In this study,the ArcGIS software operating platform as the carrier,combined with the relevant mathematical evaluation model to the main city of Suzhou as the object of study.Based on the comparison of the land suitability evaluation index system and the?Relevant land attribute index in Suzhou Urban Geological Survey?,Combined with the actual situation of the study area,reference to the FAO ? Land Evaluation Framework?evaluation system set to determine the land suitability evaluation of the index system.In this paper,the Suzhou Geological Survey Database and ? Suzhou Statistical Yearbook?were used to obtain the natural geography and socioeconomic data of the study area,and the land suitability evaluation database was established by means of geographic information system.On the basis of this,the land suitability of the study area was evaluated by using GIS technology and literature analysis,principal component analysis,restrictive factor method,weighted index and method model.The main research results of this study are: The study area has 688.45 square kilometers of agricultural land,the area of the cultivated area is not suitable for planting area of 130.67 square kilometers,accounting for 18.98%;barely suitable for plantingarea of 42.68 square kilometers,accounting for 6.20%;Suitable planting area of 515.1square kilometers,accounting for 74.82%.From the spatial distribution point of view,the suitability of agricultural land in Suzhou showed the pattern of "Eastern excellent Western disadvantage",and not suitable for the planting area was mainly located in Xiangcheng and Hi-tech Zone.The barely suitable planting area and high suitable planting area were mainly located in Wujiang and Wuzhong areas.The construction area of the study area(mainly refers to the urban and industrial areas)is 952.35 square kilometers,of which the construction area is not suitable for the construction area of 25.36 square kilometers,accounting for 2.66%;barely suitable for the construction area of 157.51 square kilometers,accounting for 16.54% Construction area of 769.49 square kilometers,accounting for 80.80%.Not suitable for the construction area is mainly distributed in the western part of Huangdai town,Hushu town center,as well as Aries Bay streets and Huqiu street junction,Suzhou high-tech area around the mountain area.This study can provide the basis for scientific and rational use of land resources in Suzhou.At the same time,the macro and objective research results of land suitability evaluation can provide reference for Suzhou urban development planning and land use layout planning.
