Discussion On Development Status And Optimization Ideas Of Datian County High Mountain Tea Industry

Datian county has totally 175 mountains with the height of more than 1000 meters above the sea level.The subtropical oceanic weather and the mountains provide a fabulous environment for the culture of high-quality tea.As for the economic tea area,Datian sits at the border of Fujian Jiangnan Tea Area and South China Tea area.The history of planting tea in Datian dates to Qing Dynasty and it is documented that there were 72“teahouses”,which were small business entities with both tea processing and tea retail at that time.In 1990s,the green tea industry grew fast with a few large tea production bases constructed.After 2000,the oolong tea industry developed in a fast speed,especially for the high-quality high-mountain oolong tea.By the end of 2016,the total area of tea plantation in the county was 6,488 hectares,with 2,650 processing plants and 4,320 tons of gross tea product per year,which has a yearly production value of 719 million yuan.In recent years,the fast-growing high-mountain tea industry has successfully helped the famers in the mountain area to get more income and get rid of poverty.In 2002,the average per capita net income of farmers in the county is 3,163 yuan,while that of famers in the tea production area is 2,060 yuan.With the promotion of high-mountain tea industry,the average per capita net income of famers in the key tea production area has increased to 13,616 yuan,higher than the average of the whole county,which is 12,952 yuan.More recently,as the growth of global and domestic economy slow down and the adjustment of domestic industrial structure,the demand for tea has been dramatically decreased,making the development of the whole industry slower.Then intensive competition in the market also slows down the development of the high-mountain tea industry in Datian.The production of tea in the county is 4,320 tons,with a low increase rate of 0.95%than 2015.At the same time,problems such as high cost,low profit,low brand influence and poor sales come up.To get a health and consistent development in the future,the high-mountain tea industry call for an urgent upgrade of industrial structure.Based on the current situation of the tea industry in Datian,this article tries to clarify the problems in the development and discuss the main ideas of resource integration and optimization for solution.Therefore,this article will provide a useful reference for helping high-mountain tea production get a sustained and stable development and make Datian the center of and the economic corridor of central Fujian,as well as improve farmers' income.
