Now vegetable industry is an advantaged industry in Taibai county and has became the most important way to add values and enhance incomes for the farmers. In order to provide the scientific theory on the sustainable development of high mountain vegetables industry in Taibai county, based on the current status of high mountain vegetable industry in Taibai county, we systematically investigated the cultivated species, varieties structure, pests and diseases control, storage and transport, packaging sales and full-service system through the method of questionnaire survey, interview, checking literature and doing related trails. Furthermore, we analyzed the geographical advantage and market competiveness through the Michael Porter’s Five Forces and resource endowment index method. The results are as follows:1. The area of vegetable in Taibai county was10.6ten thousand mu (Among them, the area of greenhouse vegetable was about1200mu. The main cultivated facilities were the large, medium vinyl houses and greenhouses. The open vegetable fields almost had no irrigation facilities.). The output was37.5million tons and the production value was285million. The county had became the biggest pollution-free vegetable production base in summer in shaanxi province, China.2. The main species were cruciferous vegetables and the growing areas mainly distributed900~1800meters above sea level in Taibai county. This county had obvious geographical advantages, strong market competiveness, and formed its own relatively perfect service system.3. The vegetable production and sales unit was mainly completed by their own families. The production procedures of vegetable including sowing, seeding, planting, weeding and harvesting mainly depended on manual labor, while through the leading enterprises, professional production cooperatives, farmers’economic man to sell, more than95%vegetables were sold to outsides in the traditional selling way4. There were some problems that restricted the development of mountain vegetables industry in Taibai county, such as the production model, single variety structure, lag of post-processing techniques, weak infrastructure and prominent ecological environmental concerns.5. The suggestions and countermeasures on promoting the level of vegetable industry and achieving the sustainable development:strengthening the function of leading enterprises and professional production cooperatives; stepping up the construction of irrigation infrastructure and increasing the production security capacity; optimizing the varieties structure and popularizing the standardized production techniques; promoting the research and development of post-processing technology.
