Study On Chinese Investment Opportunities Of New Energy Power Industry In Thailand

In recent years,under the background of“Belt and Road”initiative,Chinese power enterprises have taken an active role in international competition,privileged by domestic policies and their own industrial advantages.Playing a major role in competing on international markets,Chinese power enterprises have greatly promoted the coordinated development of economies along“Belt and Road”.The implementation of relevant schemes will encounter an increasing demand for infrastructure building in these nations,among which electrical equipment is of the utmost importance.“Belt and Road”is bound to bring a strong growth point to domestic power equipment enterprises.Owing to its ideal geographic location,Thailand has become a strategic pivotal country along the 21~stt maritime Silk Road.Located in core areas of ASEAN,Thailand is also one of the core members in“Belt and Road”and serves as a natural bridge between ASEAN market and China.Thailand economy has witnessed rapid growth in recent years due to its strategic geographical location.Economy can't develop without the supply of power.It is a common choice for all countries to seek overall implementation of energy-saving and emission-reduction policies and transform the original economic development mode characterized by high energy consumption and high pollution to a low-carbon economy with lower energy consumption,less pollution and fewer emissions in order to realize sustainable development of their economy and society.Nature gas owns a large proportion in power supply of Thailand,while the natural gas reserved in Thailand bay may face the danger of exhaustion in a few decades.A single power source enlarges the risk of domestic electricity-using and poses a huge threat to energy safety.Thus,to ensure a rapid and stable development of its economy,Thailand announced a comprehensive plan to develop renewable energy,hoping to adjust energy structure and maintain energy security through it.Located in tropical areas with its south by the sea,Thailand is blessed with a prosperous agricultural industry and has great potential in developing energy alternatives owing to its abundant natural resources.Yet,Thailand has made little progress in its new energy power industry due to lack of money,imperfections in power infrastructure construction,restriction in technology of developing new energy,etc.Thus,there are huge investment opportunities in Thailand's power industry for China.Through analyzing and summarizing domestic and foreign studies,it is found that in the field of renewable energy the academy puts more emphasis on research of new energy industry in China and cooperation and investments between China and Europe,America and central Asia.Generalization is attached more importance to rather than individual researches.Only a few journal articles and books are concerned with the energy problem in Thailand,and none of the research studies the investment in Thailand renewable energy electric power.Thus,analysis provided in this thesis can fill the theoretical gap to some extent.Blessed with an ideal geopolitical advantage,China is now at the frontier of trade cooperation between Southeast Asia under the prosperous development of economic globalization and regionalization.For China,the cooperation with Thailand and investments in its new energy industry can be conducive to Chinese globalization,through which China can give full play to its own advantages and make new energy industry a competitive new-emerging industry in the world.For Thailand,it can help it adjust energy structure,maintain energy safety and enhance its international competitiveness.As for the whole world,it can optimize global market structure,promote the development,spread and communication of advanced technology and create more opportunities for developing new energy industry.Thus,analysis provided in this thesis is not only of theoretical significance but also of realistic value.This thesis adopts the methods of literature analysis and qualitative analysis.Fundamental information of high credibility is provided for this thesis through field investigation and searching data and documents on the official websites of Thailand during my internship life,which also offers strong support for study on investments opportunities in this thesis.Starting from a macro point of view,this thesis first studies the investment environment in Thailand and further combines the overall status quo of its electricity market and new energy power industry with Potter's theory of national competitiveness to reach the conclusion that there are huge investment opportunities in Thailand's new energy power industry for China.Through revealing existing problems of China enterprises'investment in Thailand's new energy power industry,relevant suggestions are also provided for Chinese investors who seek long-term development in this industry.
