Energy saving and emission reduction, which is the important way to ease the pressure of resource supply, environmental pollution, national security and so on, is also inevitable for the sake of our nation and strongly links to national rejuvenation and sustainable development. In 2009, China's energy consumption has broken through 3 billion tons te which is 4.1 times more comparing to 1980.It is far exceeding the increase in developed countries over the same period. Industry structure is closely related to energy consumption. For a long time, China's energy consumption is highly concentrated in specific sectors and specific industries. While contributing to the national economy, high-energy-consuming industries represented by smelting and pressing of ferrous metals act as the key driver for the rising energy consumption of China.Based on the energy saving experience from developed countries and the result of predecessor studies, this paper comprehensively uses the theory and method of economics and statistics, gradually decomposes the energy consumption of China\ industries and manufacturing during 2000 and 2008 by using the LMDI model, systematiclly discusses the changing mechanism of the energy consumption, finally focuses on power structure, energy efficiency indicators, technological development and Energy saving potential of the electric power industry. The paper that has five chapters can be taken into three big parts:foundation and principle, empirical study, case study. The part of foundation and principle mainly contains first three chapters and is the foundation of the whole paper. This part introduces the backdrop and significance, framework and method, main points and follow-up studies, concentrated displays Literature Reviews and previous achievement including the research of center for energy research of Fudan University, summarizes the energy-saving experience among United States,Britain and Japan in three aspects, including management institutions and system, legal safeguard and policy support, source of energy-saving funding. Furthermore, the inadequate and different national conditions of China are analyzed comparatively based on the conclusion above. This part is also the foundation of the decomposition study and very important to the case study. The part of empirical study contains the fourth chapter, this part is the core sustaining of the whole paper. While introducing the characteristics between industrial development and energy consumption in the past 30 years, this part builds a logarithmic mean divisia index model to decompose energy consumption of China, industries and manufacturing during 2000 and 2008 into economic scale, industrial structures and energy intensity. The study shows:at the national level, the effects of industry are more significant than effects of others, while at the industrial sector level, the effects of manufacturing sector is the most significant. What is more, at the manufacturing level, the decomposed effects of energy consumption mainly concentrated in smelting and pressing of ferrous metals> processing of petroleum^ coking, processing of nuclear fuel, manufacture of raw chemical materials and chemical products, manufacture of non-metallic mineral products and smelting and pressing of non-ferrous metals. Statistics shows:Surprisingly, the main energy industries represented by smelting and pressing of ferrous metals which account for 70% of manufacture's total energy use just create only 25% added value of the total manufacturing. It is clear that not all industries are with high energy consumption and low outputs. Adjust the structure inside the industry may be the new ideas for Energy saving and emission reduction. The part of case study contains the fifth chapter, which is the continuance and deepening of the whole paper. Statistics shows that the power ratio of primary energy in China has a significantly negative correlation with the intensity of energy and carbon in the past 30 years. In view of the importance of electric power industry, this part, take electric power industry as an example, discusses power structure, energy efficiency indicators, technological development and energy saving potential of the electric power industry. In China, advanced coal-fired power generation will not only become the basis for power industry development in future, but also become the key areas to reduce the energy intensity and carbon emissions. Finally,In order to promote energy-saving in electric power industry, systems perspective is needed to examine every links, including resource, conversion, transport and use. Only in overall planning, can it come to achieve comprehensive upgrade. |
