Along with the globalization and informatization,especially with the presence of ?knowledge economy?,drawbacks of traditional vertical ?pyramid-style? corporate structures have been emerging.Corporate communication has been hindered by complex middle management and creativity of employees has been restricted by enterprise hierarchy.In China,majority of SOEs possess huge and redundant organization structures,which lead to low efficiency of management.Such organization structure has seriously hindered the development of enterprise.Therefore,flatten management is just needed.Starting with the construction and planning phase,Petrochemical Company A adopts flatten management.However,after few years of operation,though management style is getting mature,problems have been emerging.In this essay,the author firstly defines what is flatten management,then illustrates the characteristics and development trend of flatten management.Meanwhile,in contrast to traditional ?pyramid-style? style,author does a cost-and-benefit analysis and summarizes the prerequisites of the realization of flatten management in Company A: corporate culture,human resource,information construction,raw materials,and production.Among these 5 perspectives,author determines elements which have the most impact on production management of Company A: corporate culture,human resource and production.Following of that,the essay raises several problems,including shortage of manpower,vague corporate culture,and low efficient management.At last,author proposed several methods of solving these problems: By creating clear career development paths and on-job trainings to strengthen human resource;By propaganda,activities,and publications to promote corporate culture;By mature visual management,unified operations and intensive management methods to solve onsite undermanagement problems.The study of this paper will not only solve existing problems of the flatten management of Petrochemical Company A but also provide a case study of the flatten management for other petro-chemical corporations in China.
