The Present Situation, Problems And Countermeasures Of Vegetable Industry In Lanzhou City

This research is to understand the current situation of Lanzhou vegetable industry,to study the problems in its development,to increase its competitiveness in domestic and international markets,tomaxmize farmers' income,to maintain a rapid progress of agricultural science and technology,to review and strenghen the vegetable industry,to locate the key point of the development,and toimplementnew policies.The research was conducted by invesgeting in the main vegetable producing areas of Lanzhou.By relevant literature,field investigation,data logging,and farmer interviewing,this papers studies the current vegetable industry in Lanzhou,and gives reasonable and practable advices to Lanzhou vegetable industry.The project results that:1.Statistics indicates that arable land in Lanzhou total up to 210 thousand hectares,spreading from elevation of 1500 m to 3300 m,with 2700-3300?effective accumulated temperature(?10?).Meanwhile,the use of pesticides in vegetable production in Lanzhou is reasonably low,and with regional ecological advantages,few pests and diseases,a dry climate,adequate light,and notable temperature difference between day and night,Lanzhou is ranked as one of the most suitable areas for agriculture cultivating.In 2015,Lanzhou vegetable cultivating area hits 66.7 thousand hectares,yielding 1.8 million tons,and becomes one of the main producting areas of China's summer and autumn vegetable production,productions sold to eastern and southernChina.Note that the Plateau Summer Vegetablesmarketing incomeaccounts for 1/3 of the average per capita income of farmers in Lanzhou.Lanzhou Plateau Summer Vegetables has become the mostcompetitive brand in the market.2.By analyze the competition among producing areas,their processing capacity,the market,quality control,and brand creation,this research shows that the problems in Lanzhou vegetable industry are the lack of industralization and matching technologies,the lower yielding capacity,and the lower influence in a hyper-competing market.Those problem result in restricting farmer's income and gapping between vegetable industries in Lanzhou and in other places in China.3.To solve those problems mentioned above,to increase competitiveness of Lanzhou vegetables in domestic and international market perpetually,to increase farmers' income,and to rapidly improve agricultural technoloy,this paper advices the necessity of a highly standardized and orgnized vegetable industry in Lanzhou;Large companies should act as the leading force in developing new agricultural technologies and comunicating among researchers,and devote in creating eco-friendly brands to conqure market by establishing professional brand buiding and marketing teams.And the seed industry should focus on researching independently and creating new varieties.Rational planning of water usage and management should be implemented as the developing of vegetable processing industry.As the regulator,the local government should provide services and infrastructures in need,and provide farmers science-based guidance,improving the industry with internet technology.
