The Construction And Application Of Economic Gravity Model In Chengdu Economic Zone From The Perspective Of Spatial Economics

With the large-scale development of the western region and the continuous advancement of the “One Belt and One Road” policy,Sichuan Province has accelerated the pace of building an inland economic highland.In January 2006,the C hengdu Economic Zone was established,since then,the joint development occurred in in Sichuan Province.With the continuous development of economic construction in the C hengdu Economic Zone,more and more problems have begun to appear.C hengdu relies on t he status of a core city,continuously accumulates advantageous resources,and forms a huge economic development difference with other cities in the region.But due to the weak industry foundation,it is difficult for regional cities to undertake the trans fer of industries from C hengdu.The development of the region has begun to show signs of stagnation.Based on the problems encountered in the spatial integration development of Chengdu Economic Zone,this paper puts forward a reasonable theoretical analysis and considers that the two major challenges faced by the spatial integration of Chengdu Economic Zone.One of the problems is that the weak industry foundation of regional cities cannot undertake the transfer of industries from Chengdu.The second is the imperfect regional transport integration caused by the imperfect construction of important regional transportation hubs.In order to analyze these two issues better,this paper constructs an economic gravity model,measures the economic quality and economic distance of the Chengdu Economic Zone from 2006 to 2015,and uses factor analysis to evaluate the economic quality.It is found that over time,the economic quality gap in the Chengdu Economic Zone has narrowed,while the economic distances between the three major cities in C hengdu,Deyang and Mianyang have also shown a trend of shrinking.The joint development in the Chengdu Economic Zone has taken shape.However,at the same time,there are still some problems.Firstly,although the existing Chengdu Economic Zone has a certain degree of regional cooperation,it is limited by the industrial base and the degree of cooperation is low;Secondly,the current Chengdu Economic Zone cooperation development model is alike a radial development model,which is mostly based on C hengdu.There are few linkages between the other regions and there is a lack of regional development initiatives.Therefore,this paper proposes from three aspects: reducing the gap between urban development,improving the co-construction and sharing of major transport facilities and strengthening the industrial infrastructure in backward areas.
