The Dunhuang Animal Materials Research In Tang And Five And Early Song Dynasties

In the Chinese documents of Dunhuang collected by the predecessors,a large number of animal-related records can be found.And now 94 kinds of animals are counted from the various types of deed,the official dispatch,elbow instruments and other papers,among which 30 species are mammals,and 64 species are birds,fish,insects and other animals.By analyzing and comparing the animals appeared in Dunhuang instruments with the animals recorded in the literature,we can not only find out the general situation of Dunhuang animal resources in Tang,Five Dynasties and early Song Dynasty,but also provide reference for the protection and utilization of Dunhuang animal resources.In terms of the source of animal resources in Dunhuang,there are two ways including local origin and external input.And the animal resources are mainly produced in local area,and the local animal resources are mainly aquaculture,supplemented by field capture.The external input of animal resources is completed supplemented mainly in the form of trade.Under the prevailing socio-economic environment,according to the local situation of Dunhuang,the regime of Guiyi Jun developed and utilized animal resources,and made various daily necessities by fully using animal resources,such as wool,leather,and dairy,ect.And it also played an important role in agricultural production,construction,transportation and other aspects.During the period of the Tang,Five Dynasties and early Song Dynasty,there were various items about animal,which were widely used in all aspects of social life,becoming an indispensable material in Dunhuang society.To a certain extent,the prosperity of Dunhuang's aquaculture industry provided sufficient raw materials for availing animal resources,and promoted the development of animal-derived industry,which laid a certain material basis for the complex environment inside and outside of the the regime of Guiyi Jun,existing in the northwest.
