The traditional residents proactively take advantage natural environment, building materials and passive technology advantage to cope with the impact of climate on the indoor thermal environment under the condition of general lack in the mechanical environment control means. This kind of climate adaptability which demonstrates ecological wisdom has won wide attention from researchers. The landform in the Bayu areas is complicated, and it is wet and hot in summer while relatively mild in winter. The traditional residents mainly witch enveloped with thin walls, mainly aiming to prevent hot in summer.Currently there have been some studies about it,but most of them is merely qualitive description in form instead of quantitative analysis. They do not study the relationship of demand and supply between people and architecture from overall perspective, and they also lack the full understanding about the mechanism of various climate adaptability technologies. This paper analyzes the relationship of demand and supply between traditional resident and building and the mechanism of traditional climate adaptability technology against indoor thermal environment through computer simulation and theoretical analysis based on the field research and physical environment test for the traditional residents in the Bayu areas. The analysis on the harmonious relation between traditional resident and environment and that between traditional resident and human from the overall perspective of Human – Architecture—Environment is important to the development of traditional architecture culture and the sustainable development of traditional residents. The paper firstly has analyzed the climate characteristics in the Bayu areas and the form and layout of local traditional residents witch enveloped with thin walls. The paper has learned the daily life habits of residents through questionnaires and discovered local people's demands for architecture. They are more likely to stress on the comfort for communication space such as courtyard, eaves corridor and principal room in the daytime while on the comfort of rest space such as bedroom in the nighttime. To further analyze the residents' behaviors under different climate, the paper divides outdoor environment into three types of temperature intensity based on the outdoor highest temperature(temax),which are temax?35?,30??temax<35? and temax<30?,implements field measurement for five typical households and analyzes the indoor thermal environment for above three temperature zones. The indoor temperature lower than 30? is comfortable temperature. The comfort time ratio has been calculated for each indoor room during use through statistical analysis technique. If temax?35?,the relative comfort time in the principal only covers 28.8% while over 80% time in the bedroom. If temax<35?,the comfort time ratio in the principal room can reach over 80% and the thermal comfort time ratio in the bedroom can reach over 90%.The paper analyses the mechanism of adaptability technology for the traditional residents witch enveloped with thin walls from architecture space, space enclosing structure and detailed structure. The results indicate that the major impact of architecture space on the indoor thermal environment lies in three aspects of sunshade, thermal buffer and natural ventilation. The courtyard should be narrow for a certain extent and the temperature of the courtyard bottom should be different to ensure thermal buffer and ventilation effect. If natural ventilation is implemented for attic space, its thermal buffer effect will be better. The ratio between height and width from 6.8 to 1.8 for eaves corridor just meets the demand for sunshade and rain protection. The thermal performance of space enclosing structure is poor, but its heat dissipation performance is excellent. The detailed structure is good for indoor ventilation. The paper simulates and assesses indoor thermal environment for typical residents during the whole summer through EnergyPlus. The results indicate that for each room during use in the whole summer, the indoor thermal comfort time ratio of principle room covers 81%,and that of bedroom covers 87% and 86.2%,which means that the climate adaptability of traditional residents is better.Lastly, the paper analyzes traditional residents' application of natural ventilation and architecture heat dissipation to exchange with environmental energy from the overall perspective of “People-Architecture – Environment”.The satisfaction with people's demand for architecture thermal comfort through meeting the supply of architecture for people mirrors the traditional thought of the integration between man and nature,in which traditional residents respect environment, make use of environment and build environment.
