Research On The Guangdong-Guangzhou Geological Survey(1927-1952)

The Guangdong-Guangzhou Geological Survey was established in 1927 by Zhu Jialu.It was originally affiliated to the Guangzhou Branch of the Central Political Conference.After the dissolution of the branch in 1929,it was changed to Guangzhou Zhongshan University.As the largest regional geological survey,the Geological Survey of Guangdong and Guangxi has the purpose of“promoting local geology education and scientific research to make up for the omissions and omissions in the investigation and research of previous national geological surveys”.Since the beginning of the establishment,the Geological Survey of Guangdong and Guangxi has both the function of political industry investigation and the function of academic research.In the early days,the Geological Survey of Guangdong and Guangxi cooperated with the government,and the Guangdong Provincial Government subsidized it.The staff conducted field visits to the topography,strata and mineral deposits in the Guangdong and Guangxi regions.This cooperation also continued after the Guangzhou-Guangzhou Geological Survey was changed to Guangzhou Zhongshan University.Many of the researchers working at the Guangdong-Guangzhou Geological Survey have served as teachers in the Department of Geology of Sun Yat-Sen University,which allows the Guangdong-Guangdong Geological Survey to enjoy both the funds and preferential conditions allocated by Sun Yat-Sen University and the government.Before the beginning of the comprehensive anti-Japanese war,Guangzhou society was relatively stable during this period,and the research results of the Geological Survey of Guangdong and Guangxi were also the most abundant.In 1937,the comprehensive war of resistance began.The investigation work of the Geological Survey of Guangdong and Guangxi was interrupted by the war.However,after re-migrating to Pingshi,Guangdong,the Guangdong Provincial Government of Guangdong and Guangxi was actively involved in the war against the founding of the country,with mineral exploration as the period.The focus of work,and the ability to maintain operations.In 1944,the Guangdong-Guangzhou Geological Survey was forced to suspend operations.After the end of the War of Resistance Against Japan,under the auspices of Zhu Jiaxuan,the reconstruction of the Geological Survey of Guangdong and Guangxi was put on the agenda.However,due to the difficulty in reaching a consensus on the reconstruction budget of the Guangdong Provincial Government and Sun Yat-sen University,the official reconstruction of the investigation was delayed.In the end,the Central Ministry of Education agreed to subsidize most of the budget,and the investigation was restored.After the Liberation War,the Geological Survey of Guangdong and Guangxi was accepted and reorganized by the CCP.Although the name of the Guangdong-Guangzhou Geological Survey is still under the name of Sun Yat-sen University,because of its cooperation with the government,the survey is actually more independent than other institutions affiliated to the university.During the establishment of the Geological Survey of Guangdong and Guangxi,systematic and detailed investigations were carried out on the geological resources of the Guangdong,Guangxi,Guizhou,Jiangxi,Inner Mongolia and South China Sea Islands,and a large number of geological topographic maps were drawn,accumulating a large amount of data for the development of China's geological science.In terms of social services,the Guangdong-Guangdong Geological Survey has assisted local government governments in developing mineral resources in the Guangdong and Guangxi regions to consolidate national defense and develop the economy.In the history of geology and the history of regional development,the local geological survey institute represented by the Guangdong-Guangzhou Geological Survey is an indispensable existence.
