Praseodymium-doped calcium titanate(CaTiO3:Pr3+)red persistent phosphor has potential but wide applications on industry, because of its high color purity, uncomplicated synthesis, chemical stability and environmentally-friendly feature.Receatly,a great number of efforts have been taken to improve the luminescent and afterglow properties of CaTiv3:Pr3+.In present work, the influences of Pr3+ concentration, calcining temperature and holding time on the luminescence and long afterglow of CaTiO3:Pr3+have been studied fnrstly. The optimum Pr3+ doping concentration is 0.3%,while above this value, the luminescence and long afterglow deteriorate due to the concentration quenching effect. With the calcining temperature increases in the temperature range of 1100-1300?,the luminescent and afterglow properties improve obviously due to the improvement of crystallinity.Secondly, the effects of other co-dopants,such as Mg2+,Zn2+,Al3+,Cu2+,Bi3+ and Si4+,on the luminescent and afterglow properties of CaTiO3:Pr3+ have also been investigated by using results of the powder XRD,emission spectrum, excitation spectrum and afterglow decay curve.Basing on the powder XRD,it showed that Mg2+,Zn2+ and Al3+ were substituted in the B-site of Ti4+ to improve the luminescent, while Cu2+ and Bi3+ failed. However,if Cu2+ co-dopes in CaTivO3:Pr3+,the luminescent and afterglow properties quencn significantly. When the doping concentration of Cu2+ is in the range of 0-0.20%,the luminescent intensity at 615nm has a linear relationship with Cru2+ concentration, which provides a simple way to determine trace levels of Cu about one ten thousandth in the field of analysis and detection. The results showed that the co-doped ions which improve the luminescent and afterglow properties of CaTiO3:Pr3+ are Mg2+,Zn2+,Al3+ and Si4+,whose optimal concentration are 0.6%,1.0%,0.2%and 1.0%,respectively.
