Since the 1990s,China's economy has achieved a rapid development and great changes have taken place in our society. At the same time, the extensive development methods have also accumulated a variety of problems, including the widening income gap and increasing environmental pollution. In the past, studies on China's economic development, income disparity, and environmental issues have focused more on the relationship between economic development and income inequality,or on the relationship between economic development and environmental pollution. However,The relationship between income distribution and environmental pollution has not attracted much attention. This article uses the method of Grossman and Kruecher's research on the relationship between export and environmental, establishes the theoretical basis for the analysis of the relationship between income inequality and environmental pollution, and establishes empirical models corresponding to it,and studies China's income gap for environmental pollution influences. The main contents of this article are as follows:First, the relevant literature on the relationship between income disparity and environmental pollution at home and abroad was combed;Second, based on the statistical data available in China,we described the degree of income inequality in China and the status of environmental pollution, and made a relatively intuitive analysis of the relationship between them;Third,Established a theoretical model of the relationship between income inequality and environmental pollution;Last,Established a empirical model in order to test the theoretical analysis, and concluded that the widening income gap will worsen environmental quality.According to the results of empirical analysis,in order to reduce the level of income inequality in China and improve the ecological environment in China,we put forward the following recommendations:First, reforme the initial distribution system of income and appropriately reducing government revenue;Second, reform the market of production factors and promote the upgrading of industrial structure;Third, adjust income redistribution and fiscal expenditure structure, increase investment in education to promote the accumulation of human capital;Forth,Coordinating the balanced development of urban and rural areas so as to narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas.
