As one of the six world-class urban agglomerations, the urban agglomeration of the Yangtze River Delta is an important engine of economic development in our country. Also,it occupies a pivotal strategic position in the overall situation of national modernization and the all-round opening up.However, the increasingly air pollution poses a severe challenge to the ecological safety, public health and international image of the urban agglomeration. In order to know more clearly about the atmospheric pollution, exploring its distribution characteristics and influencing factors, some analysis based on PM 10 has been carried out.Firstly, the temporal variation and spatial distribution characteristics of PM 10 in the urban agglomeration of the Yangtze River Delta from 2010 to 2016 are analyzed according to the method of spatial statistics and geographical location. The results show that the PM 10 in this region has been decreased continuously since 2013.At the same time, the seasonal variation and spatial correlation are obvious.Secondly,an evaluation index system of PM10 governance ability is built on the projection pursuit classification model to analyse the contribution rate of each impact index and to evaluate the PM 10 governance ability of cities in this area. The results show that the indexes of industrial structure, scientific and technical level, level of opening up and economic development have great influences on the PM 10 governance ability. In addition,Shanghai,Suzhou and Hangzhou have stronger governance ability than other cities. Finally, the impact of socio-economic factors on PM 10 are explored through the construction of spatial regression model. The results of SLM model show that the actual per capita GDP,the urban population size, the proportion of the tertiary industry have significant impacts on the PM 10.Based on the above findings, some suggestions are proposed, such as establishing"joint-control" governance mechanism, developing regional economy, promoting the adjustment of industrial structure, improving the quality of utilizing foreign capital and arranging the urban population layout rationally, which will provide some positive references for reducing the air pollution in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration effectively.
