It is still a challenge for the effective,low-cost treatment of cooking wastewater that is a typical industrial wastewater containing many refractory and highly toxic organics.But white-rot fungi have great potential to treat it due to their unique ability to degrade refractory organic pollutants to CO 2.However,white-rot fungal treatment system has been impeded owing to short-term fungal activities in reactor.For the first time in 36 years,our research group has successfully achieved long-term continuous and stable degradation of landfill leachate based on vascular carriers and Zheng-Long reactors under non-sterile conditions.But it remains to be studied whether our fungal w astewater treatment system can be used to treat other wastewater except landfill leachate.In this paper,vascular carrier and Zheng-Long reactor were ameliorated.A stable white-rot fungal treatment system was established and ran in repeated-batch mode to continuously treat coking wastewater under non-sterile conditions.The experimental results showed that the continuous 585-day growth of P chrysosporium aerobic filament biofilm in coking wastewater was successfully achieved based on our white-rot fungi treatment technology.The lignin peroxidase?Li P?can be continuously synthesized to degrade coking wastewater,and its activity is maintained at 2 U/L to 160 U/L during the operation of Zheng-Long reactor.During 50successive batches,aerobic mycelium biof ilm of P.chrysosporium maintained the continuous LiP production to achieved 4565%COD removal rate(removed from2393 mg·L-1 to 8301306 mg·L-1),6977%ammonium nitrogen removal rate(removed from 136 mg·L-1 to 3142 mg·L-1),7580%TOC removal rate(removed from 514 mg·L-1 to 100219 mg·L-1),and 0.061.03 g·batch-1 of discharged biosludge.All these results suggested that our fungal wastewater treatment system can be used to treat cooking wastewater except landfill leachate,that is,our white-rot fungal wastewater treatment system based on vascular carriers and Zheng-Long reactor is repeatable,which is foundational not only for treating the wastewaters containing refractory organic pollutants using white-rot fungi,but also for establishing a fungal wastewater treatment technology.
