At present,with the continuous advancement of science and technology and the improvement of people's living standard,our requirements of function and quality for electronic products are also greatly improved.As an essential product for daily life,cell phone should be beautiful in appearance,in large screen,low weight,and easy to operate.Therefore,aluminum alloy shell becomes a mainstream design.However,due to high accuracy demand,bad working environment,manpower consuming,low process capability and high manufacturing cost,surface polishing process becomes the bottleneck station in aluminum alloy manufacturing.With alloy surface polishing process of A customer's cell phone as the research object,this article analyzes the issues of fixtures and the corrosion issue of polishing consumables.With auto-development mode,an integrated and unique polishing fixture was designed,and polishing trajectory and automatic operation with best yield and efficiency were finalized based on calculation and validation.With six-axis robot and heavy-load arms,the integrated fixture can be moved inside the machine,out of the machine and between the temporary storage machines,which constitute the overall automation line with dryer and material loading system.Auto-polishing process was realized on the basis of polishing trajectory analysis,integrated fixture validation,overloaded manipulator development,auto-loading and unloading tray module development,secondary fixing mechanism development,cleaning and auto-sealing unloading module development,four-station transferring module design,material transferring storehouse development,and FOXBOT manipulator application and paw development.Based on the study,it is successful to finish the design of automation mechanism for aluminum alloy plane grinding and polishing.This automatic line for aluminum cell phone shell manufacturing was established.This automation process can completely replace manual work based on on-line validation data and performance.Only one operator was needed for an automated production line.The production efficiency can be improved by 14.3% and the production operator can be reduced by 83.3%.
