Polyacrylate has been widely used as fabric coating agent,due to its excellent film forming ability and mechanical properties,good weatherability and outstanding adhesion to all kinds of surfaces.The stable emulsion was prepared by pre-emulsion and half-continued polymerization,using ethyl acrylate,butyl acrylate,methyl methacrylate and N-methylol acrylamide as monomers with a monomer conversion of 97.5%.The film formed by emulsion was continuous and the coated fabric felt soft with a fastness of four to five grades.Meanwhile we investigated the effects of glass transition temperature,cross-linking monomer,emulsifier,initiator,reaction temperature and pH on the emulsion and product performance.We could remedy the defects of polyacrylate by physical blending modification with organic silicone.The results showed that amino-silicone oil was the optimal silicone with the specific structure and could overcome the disadvantage of polyacrylate,like adhesive when heating and cracked when cooling.The amount of amino-silicone oil should be 4-6%.Organic silicone tended to show migration and enrichment at the surface of polymer because of its low surface energy,which was proved by ATR-IR and the analysis of surface contact angle and water absorption.In this way,the surface of polymer was reconstituted and had a higher hydrophobicity.On the other hand,the addition of organic silicone could also improve the water resistance of coating.The results of the study showed that physical blending modification of polyacrylate with organic silicone possessed the advantages of simple technology,low cost and easy operation.The copolymerization of organic silicone and polyacrylate improved their compatibility and completely solved the problem of emulsion stability.The stable emulsion was prepared by pre-emulsion and half-continued polymerization with Isomeric alcohol ethoxylates 1310 and disodiumC-[2-[2-[2-(dodecyloxy)ethoxy]ethoxy]ethyl]sulphonatosuccinat-e MES-40(1:1)as the emulsifier,which was 6% in amount.To some degree,the existence of chemical bonds restrained the migration of organic silicone to the surface of polymer.So the improvement of surface contact angle by copolymerization was less than that by blending.Also the coating by copolymerization showed higher water resistance than that by blending.Copolymerization was an effective way to improve the application performance of polyacrylate,such as flexibility in low temperature and stickiness in high temperature.The optimum amount of organic silicone was 4-6%,in case that the fastness of coating might decrease.
