This paper studied the removal of toluene from gas stream by absorption, ultrasonic strengthening desorption and pulse corona decomposition, sequently. It was found that the removals of toluene increased by 13% and 7% corresponding to the addition of 5% polyethylene glycol and 5% sodium citrate respectively, compared with using water absorption. With the increasing of molecular mass of glycol, the removal of toluene was gradually increased. In the experiment of toluene desorption from the absorbed solutions,it found that toluene removals in the simulated wastewater were about 8.2% and 68% by ultrasonic radiation and gas-stripping after 120 min, respectively. The removal of toluene reached 73% by ultrasonic radiation combined with gas stripping. The removal of toluene increased by 22% after the reactor was improved. In the degrading process of toluene by pulse corona, the removal of toluene decreased with the increase of toluene inlet concentration. It was found that the toluene removals were under 30% in first 30 min of the reaction and over 80% after 40 min reaction in the condition of 50 Hz of the pulse frequency,22.5 k V of pulse voltage and the residence time of 43 s.Toluene was degraded to CO2,CO and H2 O by pulse corona detection with FT-IR.
