Excepting of its color,design and other aesthetic,the feeling of soft and comfort of textiles is one important factor to attract consumers,and which is usually achieved through soft finishing.Textiles after soft finishing also become smooth and fluffy according different purpose beside the soft and comfort handle.The usage of organic silicon as a kind of softening agent in soft finishing for textiles has a long history,and the most widely-used kind is modified polysiloxane.in 1997,the first commercial ternary copolymer block silicone softener appeared and nowadays this kind of softener is still attracts increasing attention,because of its property of self emulsifying.Based on one kind of commercial ternary copolymer block silicone(provided by the enterprise),we develop one softening finishing compound for cotton fabrics to get the soft and smooth or soft and fluffy handle.The choice of objective evaluation of the soft finishing effects is very important in this research and in the earlier experiment we choose the Phabr Ometer(Feng BaoYi)instrument and Kawabata Evaluation System.The experimental results showed that the evaluation result of Kawabata Evaluation System is more consistent with subjective evaluation,so we choose the Kawabata Evaluation System to assess the hand feel in our research.The self emulsifying property of ternary copolymer block silicone softener was studied.we found that the ternary copolymer block silicone emulsion with its concentration of 20g/L can self emulsify with the particle size of 315.5nm and the color of the emulsion is milk white.After 50%(compared with the weight of ternary copolymer block silicon)commercial emulsifier Lutensol XP50 with HLB of 10 is added,the emulsion is transparent faint yellow and the particle size is lowered to 26.2nm.The latter emulsion used for softening finishing increased the hydrophilicity of the fabrics,and the winding-length is bigger,which made the fabrics a little rigid.The application properties of ternary copolymer block silicone softener and common types of softeners in cotton fabrics were compared.Fabrics treated with ternary copolymer block silicon softener had better soft,smooth feel than that treated with PE classes or fatty acid derivatives softener.Compared with the amino silicone' WR301CN,the ternary copolymer block silicone softener treated fabrics had better properties in hydrophilicity and whiteness,but softness and smoothness is poorer.In order to improve the soft,smooth feel of ternary copolymer block silicon softener finishing fabrics,amino silicone softener is chosen to mix with it.the ammonia value and viscosity of amino silicone softeners are studied in the first place.Results show that with high degree of ammonia value,the softness and smoothness of the fabrics are good,but worse.When the ammonia value similar,Rodorsil 21650 which has a high viscosity treated fabrics'hydrophilicity,smoothness and whiteness are all good.So Rodorsil 21650 is chosen to mix with ternary copolymer block silicone oil to improve the softness and smoothness of the finishing fabrics.Added different amounts of Rodorsil 21650 into ternary copolymer block silicone for compounding.The particle size of the emulsion added with Rodorsil 21650 decreased.The stability of all the emulsion is good except the one of Rodorsil 21650(50%)remained in-10?environment for 24h.When the amount of Rodorsil 21650 is 10%,wetting time of the treated fabric was reduced by 60%.whiteness and smoothness of those fabrics improved.The soft and fluffy feel of cotton fabrics treated with ternary copolymer block silicone emulsion was studied.Compared with untreated fabric,ternary copolymer block silicone emulsion had a soft effect in cotton fabrics,but the fluffy feel is poor.The fluffy feel of cotton fabrics treated with ternary copolymer block silicone need a further improvement.
