With the industrialization of superfine polyester fiber, the growth of the use of polyester fiber for tourism, sports clothes and car decoration,it's been increasingly important to develop disperse dyes be of high washing fastness, high thermal migration fastness and environmental friendliness.Azo dyes with phthalimide have excellent laundry resistance in wool and synthetic blends, outstanding light resistance, wet fastness and high thermal migration fastness. Also,it fits the thermal transfer printing process well. All these features make the synthesis research on of disperse dyes quite valuable. The thesis focused on synthetic process of disperse dye intermediate and performance test of the dye, which is the key to industrialized production. On the basis of literature both at home and abroad, features of disperse dyes, dyeing theory, relationship of chemical structure and dyeing property and functional disperse dyes are comprehensively reviewed.Besides, best synthetic route of disperse dye intermediate is found by comparison and the process is optimized.According to experimental research, the synthetic route of the new process could contribute to raise profits and the result performance tests are satisfactory. As compared with other methods, the optimal synthetic route of disperse dye intermediate is as follows:N-methylaniline reacts with acrylic acid to get 3-N-methyl-N-phenyl amino propionic acid. The N-hydroxy ethyl phthalates formyl imine and 3-N-methyl-N-phenyl amino propionic acid react to 3-N-methyl-N-N-phenyl amino propionic acid hydroxyethyl phthalates formyl amine ester. The relationship between yield and solvent, reaction time, catalyst, the feed ratio also has been discussed. The optimal conditions were as follows:With as methyl sulphonate a catalyst, ratio of reactants is 1.5:1,with toluene as dissolvent,119?.of reflux temperature,12 hours of reaction time. Finally, the coupling agent reacts with different diazo-compounds to obtain disperse dyes with phthalimide. The performance tests of the the disperse dyes show excellent fastness.
