Autodesk Maya is a common 3D design software,which is mainly used for animation and stereoscopic modeling.In this software,the nCloth module is specially arranged to make virtual textile.By adjusting the dynamic properties include in nCloth module,designers can implement the simulation of a variety of fabrics.Drape property is one of the important parameters of fabric appearance evaluation,which is the performance of forming beautiful curved surface naturally caused by self-weight.The better drape property is,the better clothing draping feeling is,such as silk,thin cotton cloth,etc.The worse drape property is,the worse clothing draping feeling is,such as linen cloth,canvas,etc.As one of the most important factors that affect the garment appearance,costume designer must consider the drape property when making creation.Although the nCloth module of Maya provides several groups of preset parameters of common fabric,through the study it was found that there are still some differences between the drape property of virtual fabric made on the basis of preset parameters and the corresponding real fabric.And for the fabric that there is no preset parameters provided for,designers can only adjust the dynamic parameters by presentative judgement.To help designers understand the meaning and using method of dynamic parameters in nCloth module,and create more realistic virtual clothing with Maya,this paper focuses on studying the linear relationship between virtual textile drape property and the main dynamic parameters in the system of Autodesk Maya 2014.On the basis of preliminary analysis,this paper finds that there are 6 dynamic parameters have a significant effect on virtual fabric drape property.By setting different value for the 6 dynamics parameters,1728 sets of dynamic parameters combination are produced.In the Maya system,the experiment of drape property measurement to virtual textile is made with different dynamic parameters set,and 17 drape property description value are measured for each set of dynamic parameters combination.Then using the factor analysis method,the 17 drape property description value are simplified into a few factors,so the evaluation system of virtual fabric is simplified.At the same time,comparing with the factor analysis result of real textile,this paper gives out the analysis of reasons for similarities and differences.By using the mathematical analysis software: SPSS Statistics,correlation analysis and linear regression analysis is made with the obtained data,the preliminary regression equations between virtual fabric drape property and dynamic parameters are calculated.Combining with real fabric drape property measurement results,the equations are modified preliminarily and the dynamic parameters corresponding to 10 kinds of common real fabric are given.The significant difference inspection of drape coefficient and the number of ripple between the emulational textile and real textile is made,and the equations are revised further by analysing the test results.In the end,two common fabrics are selected to create emulational semicircle skirt in the 3D system of Maya and make the real semicircle skirt,the simulation result is evaluated and the result shows that they look similar in the appearance.
