Indigo Dye In Modern Design And Application

Chinese traditional natural dye in our country has thousands of years of history of traditional craftsmanship,it as a gift of nature,and in the 19 th century safter replaced by industrial production change once asleep,and wake up by people's cognitive in recent years,to explore its meaning and value.As a representative color in natural dye,indigo is especially noticeable because of its wide spread,long history and special production process.As part of traditional Chinese handicraft,traditional indigo dye plays an important role in China's clothing culture,but it also has great resistance in modern inheritance and application.In this article,we will be based on indigo as a starting point,through a lot of reading at home and abroad related books,collect and analyze the domestic and foreign design cases,to take field trips in Japan,Taiwan,guizhou and other places,and combining with the design and market practice of indigo in the period of graduate study.,and then getting relevant conclusions,finally I will use the method of design research(sketchbook)combined with new thinking and modern design,to meet the demand of the innovation of the modern people to the clothing.Along with the people's consumption level and the aesthetic level rise ceaselessly,carries forward the tradition,reflect individual character,environmental protection and sustainable,those keywords has became numerous demands of consumers nowadays,while the existing indigo clothing due to many reasons are not enough to meet their demands,when we are thinking about how to deal with problems of industrialization of indigo dye,moreover,this paper will focus on how indigo can create more possibilities for design through innovation.,let more people to accept the traditional crafts,and not let the indigo pass just a flash in the pan in the modern life.Nowadays,many clothing brands have started to try to implant the concept of plant dyeing in the brand,and promote environmentally sustainable design concept to improve their brand culture.In fact,in addition to most of the existing brand transformation and applicationof design and color of indigo dye,we can add more mix build,such as: plant fiber and chemical fiber,traditional tie-dye batiks with mature special process of industrialization,it can provide more space for design,and then let the audience get expand.Hope that through this paper research,I can reach to the purpose of inheritance and innovation for traditional indigo dye,at the same time,cause people to have a deeper thinking for our traditional technology innovation and application.
