Polypropylene(PP)has advantages of low density,good formability,non-toxicity,easy recycling,wide source of raw materials and low price.It is widely used in automobiles,packaging,agriculture,construction and other fields.However,the structure of polypropylene determines its strength,hardness and low temperature toughness,which limits its application in the field of structural support materials.The reinforcement and toughening modification of polypropylene will broaden its application range and promote the advancement of polypropylene into new fields.In this paper,the comprehensive properties of polypropylene was synergistically improved by the strengthening effect of inorganic fillers and the toughening effect of polyolefin elastomers(POE).Granular calcium carbonate,fibrous glass fiber and flake talc powder were used as fillers to study the effects of different inorganic fillers on the properties of inorganic fillers/polypropylene composite.The POE elastomer was introduced to study the performance of polypropylene synergistically modified by inorganic fillers/elastomer.The results show that inorganic fillers can increase the strength of polypropylene,but it leads to the rapid decline of PP impact strength.The more the anisotropy of inorganic fillers,the more the reinforcement effect.Talc powder/calcium carbonate can synergistically modify polypropylene,and the optimal ratio of talc powder and calcium carbonate is 4:1.Inorganic fillers/POE can simultaneously improve the strength and toughness of polypropylene.When the POE content is 6%,8% and 10% in the 20%-calcium carbonate/POE synergistically modified polypropylene system,the flexural modulus of the composite is increased by 20.6%,16.4% and 6.0%,and the notched impact strength is increased by 12.4%,15.4%,and 27.0%,respectively.In the 20%-talc powder/POE synergistically modified polypropylene system,when the POE content is 14%,the flexural modulus of the composite material is increased by 33.7%,and the notched impact strength is increased by 8.0%.When the POE content is 10%,12% and 14% in 20%-combined inorganic fillers(talc: calcium carbonate = 4:1)/POE synergistically modified polypropylene system,the flexural modulus of the composite material is increased by 42.0%,35.2% and 28.7%,and the notched impact strength is increased by 8.1%,10.9% and 14.8%,respectively.
