Polyphenylene sulfide fiber(PPS)is a linear polymer crystalline polymer with excellent flame retardant,high temperature resistance,chemical corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties.It is a new type of special polymer material.Due to the high glass transition temperature and crystallinity of PPS fibers,it is difficult for dyes to enter the fibers during dyeing process,and the dyeing effect is poor.In addition,PPS fiber itself also has the defect of light-resistant,under the light,the fiber is prone to yellowing.Therefore,it is of great significance to investigate the light resistance and dyeing and finishing process of PPS fibers.The basic properties,dyeing properties and light resistance of PPS fibers were studied in this paper.The superficial depth microscope,X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis were used to study the surface morphology,structural composition,crystallization,thermal properties,mechanical properties and light resistance of PPS fibers.The results show that the surface of PPS fiber is smooth and lustrous;the crystallinity is about 69.67%,relatively high;the breaking strength is 7.02 cN·dtex-1,and the elongation at break is 42.6%;the LOI value of PPS fiber is 30.22,which has good flame retardancy.The heat resistance of PPS fiber is good,and the melting temperature is as high as 256?;the light resistance is poor,the PPS fiber turns yellow after illumination,the whiteness is reduced by 70.19%,and the strength loss is as high as 72.36%.High temperature and high pressure carrier dyeing of PPS fibers was carried out by using conventional disperse dyes and disperse dyes with better light fastness.The results show that the dyeing uptake of conventional disperse dyes can reach more than 90%,the light fastness is level 1?2;the light fastness is better,the dye dyeing uptake can reach more than 80%,and the light fastness is level 3?4.Therefore,high-temperature and high-pressure carrier dyeing of PPS fiber is carried out by using a better light fastness disperse dye,and the dyeing process is optimized.The optimal dyeing process is as follows:dyeing temperature is 135?,dyeing time is 60 min,pH value is 4.5,the mass concentration of carrier benzyl benzoate is 2 to 3 g/L.Under the conditions of the dyeing process,the dye uptake rate is above 85%,the light fastness is level 3?4,the soap fastness is level 4,the dry rubbing fastness can reach level 3?4,wet rubbing fastness can reach level 3.The light fastness enhancer B15 was added to the dyeing solution,and the PPS fiber was dyed in the same bath,and then the nano-TiO2,the anti-UV finishing agent RUCO-UV UVS,and the anti-UV finishing agent RUCO-SHIELD RAY were respectively applied to the dyed PPS.The fibers were treated to improve the lightfastness of the fibers.The results show that the light fastness of the dyed fiber with the addition of light fastness improver B15 is level 4 to 5,and the light fastness is level 5 after treatment with nano TiO2,RUCO-UV UVS and RUCO-SHIELD RAY.Consequently,the addition of the light fastness improving agent and anti-UV finishing agent can improve the light fastness of the PPS fibers and meet the requirements of superior products.At the same time,anti-ultraviolet reagent can reduce the strength damage of PPS fibers under light,and obviously improve the light resistance of PPS fibers.
