The Evolution Of Birds Pattern In Ancient Chinese Textile And Its Recreation In Contemporary Textile Design

Birds are an important part of the totem of Chinese national spirit since ancient times.Bird patterns,as a wonderful flower in the history of decorative patterns in ancient China,contain far-reaching value of craft decoration and profound cultural philosophy.Under the influence of people’s unique aesthetic consciousness and value concept,bird patterns in ancient China have different changes in both style and form of expression.With the development of dyeing and weaving techniques and the promotion of social,artistic and cultural atmosphere,bird patterns in ancient Chinese textiles are becoming more and more abundant.This paper first elaborates the origin of bird pattern in ancient China.Based on the relevant ancient literature records and the disassembly drawing of bird pattern modelling structure drawn by the author with reference to cultural materials,it mainly classifies and analyses the modelling style and combination forms of typical bird pattern in each historical period of ancient China,and then combines the influence of the background of the times and human environment on bird pattern.The evolution of bird pattern in ancient Chinese textiles was studied and explained.In the re-creation part of this paper,several representative bird patterns are selected from the relevant cultural relics materials and applied to the thematic design method to create a series of bird patterns which are not only in line with the contemporary aesthetic interest but also full of retro significance.The bird patterns are transformed into modern textile design through digital printing and other processes.The bird patterns are combined with different fabrics and different styles of products.Bird pattern in ancient Chinese textiles is a re-creation in modern textile design.In recent years,the state has been promoting the inheritance and protection of traditional art and culture,advocating the use of innovative methods to inherit and develop traditional culture in modern life.Textile culture records the brilliant civilization of the Chinese nation for thousands of years,and shines with the wisdom of our ancestors.Today,textiles are still an important product integrating practicality and decoration in people’s daily life.Exquisite patterns are the soul of contemporary textile design.Therefore,exploring the transformation design between bird patterns and modern textile patterns in ancient China is not only a re-creation of the excellent traditional culture in ancient China,but also a protection and inheritance of the excellent traditional culture in ancient China.It is also helpful for contemporary textile design to seek more inspiration sources and design ideas.
