In the civilized world mining activities are synonymous with the standard of life as well as the state of any nation. It results in both economic and uneconomic materials being generated. The Uneconomic materials(Wastes)are stacked at different places known as waste dumps. The stability of these dumps has been a major concern over the years. The problem becomes increasingly difficult with the reduced availability of land areas for dumping. To minimize the risk associated with the design and construction of slopes, knowledge of the general setting is essential in the recognition of potential or actual landslides. The development of or potential for Landslides is dependent to a large extent upon the character, stratigraphy, structure of the underlying rocks and soils on the topography, climate, vegetation and on surface and underground waters. These factors vary widely from place to place and their variations are reflected in the kinds and rates of landslide movements that result from their interactions. In this project the main focus is the study on slope stability of No.1 Dump of Puyang coal mine.In the present paper were introduced the factors that affect slope stability and especially the water effect that is the main factor that affect the No.t Dump. The slope stability analysis for the waste dump of local coal mine has been carried based on the limit equilibrium method using the circular slip failure. This paper has established a two-dimensional modeling and considering the decreasing of groundwater level on the area and the accumulation of water caused by the rainfall on the dump.Factors of safety were calculated to understand the behavior of the dump slope under groundwater conditions. These papers also established slope models using two-dimensional numerical simulation software to analysis and verify the dump slope stability and give the factors of safety. At last the results calculated on the limit equilibrium and numerical analysis were compared to understand the situation on the stability of the dump and given an evaluation of the dump slope stability.
