Dump slope stability condition directly affects the safety in production and economic benefits of open-pit mine,but due to the limitation of site selection,many open-pit mines had to set the dump on the weak basement,as a result,dump deformation and landslide disaster occurred frequently.For this kind of dump slope,if proper measures could be taken when landslide signs appear,landslide disaster could be avoided.In this paper,taking south dump south slope of Shengli East No.2 Open-pit Mine as the engineering background,the methods and means of field investigation,landslide back analysis,theoretical analysis,limit equilibrium theory and numerical simulation,etc.were taken integrallty use of,the problem of basement rock mass physical and mechanical properties of south dump,deformation area slope control schemes and dump final slope form in the future were studied systematically.slope stability control measures was enacted,the effect of the slope treatment plan was evaluated.The results show that the landslide model of south dump south slope is circular sliding that shears basement rock mass;landslide back analysis determines that basement rock mass internal friction angle is 11° and cohesion is 7 kPa;in the slope control programs,burying foot 30m and cutting upper slope 15m distance can meet the requirement of safety,technology and economy;existing slope monitoring data shows that the effect of cutting slope and burying foot plan is obvious,and avoids the landslide disaster.
