Roadheader is an important machine in mining and tunneling.Innovative development of heading machine technology is significant in increasing efficiency of the project.Mining has harsh production environment,complicated geological conditions,uneven levels of production.Most of the mining equipment is large-scale and heavy machinery.So the original design philosophy is to be massive,sturdy and durable without emphasis on the cost control.For increased in production and efficiency in mining,the increased power for most of the mechanical equipment follows enlarged parts volume and heavier weight to improve the reliability of the complete machine.Being restricted by conditions,most of the improvement is based on previous experience without systematic computational analysis for scientific and reasonable design.Excessive weight increment will affect engine performance,increase cost and waste materials.To resolve the problems,it is necessary to have improved lightweight design for the Roadheader.The article takes EBZ 160 Roadheader of Xi'an Coal Mining Machinery Co.,Ltd as research subject.It is found that the cantilever of planetary reducer is too heavy and its transmission noise is deafening when it works.It is found through theoretical analysis and check that the current planetary reducer has excellent safety coefficient,so it is a good scheme to reduce its volume with fewer modules of gear.This can realize lightweight design.So the author redesigns and recalculates the current planetary reducer and have security correction for the planetary reducers.Modeling for lightweight structure is carried out with three-dimensional software,where its working condition is assessed through motion animation to test if there are interference parts.It turns out that motion among each part is flexible without any interference.Finally finite element analysis is conducted for the gear,planetThe findings of the analysis show:planetary reducer has reasonable design in its lightweight structure,which meets the design requirements for kinematics.Each part meets the strength requirement.Design of planetary reducer meets the requirement,which is in safe and reliable operation,with smaller size and lighter weight.This paper starts from assumption by raising a question?judging rationality,then to design a new project,at last to verify the rationality of new project.This analysis provides a systematic solution for the design?research and development in the future.
