There are more than 18 species of pueraria in the world and 12 species are in China.China is the distribution center of pueraria.Pueraria is the root of the plant of the genus pueraria.It is rich in starch,flavonoids,dietary fiber,puerarin,soybean flavin,carbohydrates,proteins,cholinergic derivatives,multiple vitamins and more than 17 amino acids,as well as iron,calcium,phosphorus,magnesium,zinc,selenium and other essential minerals and trace elements.Among them,pueraria flavones and puerarin are the main active ingredients and functional substances.According to modern pharmacological research,pueraria flavones and puerarin have a variety of pharmacological effects such as improving blood supply to the heart and brain vessels,improving microcirculation,lowering blood pressure,lowering blood sugar,lowering blood lipids,protecting liver,anti-tumor,regulating immune system,and increasing bone density.There are also various health care functions such as regulating female estrogen,inhibiting the synthesis of melanin,and alleviating a hangover.For a long time,pueraria in China has been mainly used as Chinese medicine or pueraria starch.Since the end of last century,with the development of plant extracts research,people got more information about pueraria.However,due to the late start of research,backward production technology and some other reasons,it has not been possible to form a large-scale industry yet.This article takes the annual production of 400 tons pueraria flavones as the process design goal.According to the characteristic that pueraria flavones is soluble in both water and ethanol,principles of circulating water extraction,alcohol precipitation and column chromatography separation technology are used.The overall design of the production process was carried out,which includes the selection of production process,material calculation,production equipment selection,equipment layout,piping design,as well as water,electricity,steam supply,disposal of waste water,personnel organization,labor protection and safety and hygiene measures,etc.,Related process design charts are also included.Hope this article will be helpful to the establishment of pueraria and other Chinese medicine extraction enterprises.
